Horror, from fiction to films.

Hi all,

my name's Stephen Melling. I come from Preston, Lancashire, UK. I've been a big horror fan since, well, before I can remember. Clever horror, schlocky horror, scary horror, ghostly horror - not so much the gory horror any more, though I've sat through my fair share through the 80's with stuff like The Burning and Zombie Flesh Eaters. I've written horror tales and a horror novel, WOLFKIND, which at first I intended as a script. The book is better, I think.

Recent years has of course seen a horror movie revival. I though 28 days later was excellent, and maintained an almost unbearable intensity throughout. Great stuff.

I agree with leezuki. I dont get all the hype for Days.

What's Wolfkind about and did you get it published?

Many of my mates prefer 28 weeks. I'll admit that days was flawed but its central conceit really worked for me. The soldier bit almost screwed it up but the idea I thought was solid. Particularly the rats fleeing the infected.

WOLFKIND's my horror novel, a modern take on the werewolf franchise. I drafted it as a screenplay fifteen years ago then spent a year turning it into a novel. It's up at Amazon but available for free download at SMASHWORDS using the coupon SSWSF at checkout. I've published mainly short stories in mags and anthologies. I collected some of them into an E-book, also available free on SMASHWORDS. But horror movies were my first love:D
