French Horror Classics

Just found this short list of French Horror films. I haven't any idea about those films from classic era except Eyes without a Face. Haven't read/seen any discussion about this films also, so like to hear from you whoever seen them already:

The Fall of the House of Usher (1928)

Carnival of Sinners aka The Devil's Hand
(1943)

Experiment in Evil aka The Testament of Doctor Cordelier (1959)

To Die with Pleasure aka Blood & Roses
(1960)

The Burning Court aka The Curse and the Coffin
(1962)

Btw, it should have add Les diaboliques (1955).

I'll have to admit to not having seen ANY of these films, Perhaps Alky & Fortunato can offer some insights into them.

A couple not on that list, for some reason, that are definitely worth seeing are a couple masterpieces by Jean Cocteau:

Orphée
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041719/

La belle et la bête (Beauty and the Beast)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038348/

Both are amazing landmarks in cinema history and well worth your time investigating.

Vadim's entry in Spirits of the Dead makes me really curious about Blood and Roses. I hope I can find it someday.

The Fall of the House of Usher is fantastic! It's a surrealistic masterpiece by the great Epstein, and of particular interest to me as it was Bunuel's first film credit (second assistant director).

I am currently watching Blood of Ghastly Horror, aka Psycho A-Go-Go.
