It was 20, 12 and 10 that I couldn't get

19 and 8 seem very familiar, but I really don't remember

I guess I haven't seen 'Opera'...Odd though, I REALLY thought I'd seen it...Unless I've just completely forgotten it...I believed that I had seen almost every 'Phantom of the Opera' movie...The last one I watched had Robert Englund in it...I still can't convince myself that I have never watched Argento's version (in fact, I could have sworn that I OWN it)...I'll definitely have to look into that

I definitely have never watched Ichi, so that makes perfect sense

@ V: If 12 is 'The Thing', I just don't remember that scene, but it seems like a scene I would remember...Then again, I haven't watched 'The Thing' in years...You did mean Carpenter's version, didn't you?

Thanks for all your help guys, you're awesome :)

I'm betting you've got your Argento Operas mixed - "Opera" isn't really related to the Phantom at all (aside from a few little references). It's more of a giallo, came out in '87...one of my favourites from him, and happens to be on the good ol' Top 100.

Then 11 years later, he decided to adapt Phantom in it's entirety. Fucking awful movie...not only one of Argento's worst, but probably the worst take on Phantom that I've seen.

I get what you're saying, but based on the '87 synopsis, 'girl works in theater, gets stalked by obsessed, crazy killer guy who wants her all to himself, and is jealous of anyone who gets close to her', seems derivative of 'Phantom of the Opera' to me...On the otherhand, I do NOT believe that I have seen the other one that you mentioned...Now I'll have to watch both of them...Even if the other one is "fucking awful"...That has never stopped me. *giggle* :D

Thanks for mentioning that :)

EDIT: Oh, but I DO mix things up like crazy...Pegged me on that one :D

19 is something which is right at the tip of my tongue. I am sure it will come to me when I am in the middle of something...

Opera is a kickass giallo. One of the very best that Argento made, and certainly one of the best of the 80s. You really need to see it. And make it a point to watch Ichi the Killer too, even though its not really horror.

Yes that's the Carpenter version of The Thing. Thats when Norris appears to have had a stroke and Copper tries to revive him by zapping him. It turns out that the Thing had taken Norris's shape and his abdomen opens out, chomping Copper's hands off.

And thanks to Z for the two others which I couldnt get.

Ditto 100%. Julian Sands trainwrecked the Phantom's character, and the whole movie was a big fucking mess. One of the worst tributes ever made.

Yeh I never knew why Argento bothered doing the "Phantom" story again especially since he nailed it with Opera. Easily one of his worst efforts... I really hate how cheaply filmed it all looks it just lacks the flair stylistically of his other flicks.

Yeah...I watched a few clips of Phantom, and on second thought, I will NOT be checking that one out...What I saw, was horrid...I like quite a few movies that many people consider to be bad or even terrible, but there are some that are simply unbearable, even for me.

Thanks to Vampenguin, V, and Elvis for the heads up...I would not have enjoyed trying to sit through that. :)
