Len Wiseman has signed a deal with Radical Pictures to develop a movie adaptation of graphic novel 'Shrapnel', according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The title - teased at Comic-Con last year - is set in a future where the human race has colonized the star system and formed 'The Solar Alliance' to govern the planets. Venus is the only planet to resist to alliance, with the help of a former marine who teaches the colonists how to fight back.

Wiseman - who is also set to direct Gears of War - said: "I am really drawn to the reluctant-hero story" and likened Shrapnel's main character to John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard (which he also helmed).

Apparently a video game tie-in is also planned with Zombie Studios (who produced the likes of Shadow Ops: Red Mercury and Delta Force: Task Force Dagger), whilst the movie could be in 3D.
