Chris Nolan's next...Inception!
Sorry, Bat-fans, but Batman 3 won't be the next film from Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan after all.
Variety reports that Nolan has written a spec script entitled Inception that he intends on directing for Warner Bros., the studio behind the Batman films. Production will commence this summer for a summer 2010 release. Nolan's wife and producing partner Emma Thomas will produce the science-fiction film, which the trade describes as "big-scale." The Hollywood Reporter calls it "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind." Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov said in a statement to THR, "Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes. ... We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and Emma on this exciting new motion picture."

Very exciting news!
I want him to make another Batman at some point, but I was hoping he'd doing something else first. He's such a brilliant filmmaker, it would be a shame to see him limit himself to Bat-movies, no matter how badass they would be. Anyone know what this will be about? The idea of Nolan making a true sci-fi flick is mouthwatering...

Leonardo DiCaprio will star in "Inception," the science-fiction film that Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight") wrote and will direct as his next pic at Warner Bros.
The project shoots this year and is slated to be released in summer 2010, with Nolan and Emma Thomas producing. DiCaprio's deal is in final negotiations. Script has been kept under wraps but the studio calls it a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind. DiCaprio, coming off "Revolutionary Road" and "Body of Lies," will next be seen starring in the Martin Scorsese-directed "Shutter Island" at Paramount.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is currently in talks to cast Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard and Cillian Murphy in the Christopher Nolan sci-fi film, Inception.
While details on the film's story are scarce -- continually described as a thoughful, sci-fi action/adventure set within the "architecture of the mind" (whatever that means) -- a few minor casting rumors have begun swirling about. Word on the street puts Leonardo DiCaprio as a corporate executive, while Cotillard, if cast, would likely play his wife. Page would play a "young college grad student and DiCaprio's sidekick." No word yet on Murphy's role, though we suspect that he'll play a bad-ass. Inception is aiming for a 2010 release so they should wrap up the casting process soon.

I have always wondered how directors and actors can work back to back on films.
sounds like too much work, cause of the hours and the emotional toil that goes into it. anyway, that said, I'll wait for dvd release and see batman in the theater |

Fantastic! He's such a great director, you wouldn't want his work to be pigeon holed, you know?

Director Christopher Nolan has already cast Cillian Murphy, who played the Scarecrow in Nolan's Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, in his forthcoming sci-fi film Inception.
Now there are rumors that two other Bat-actors might appear in the film, which Leonardo DiCaprio will star in. Sir Michael Caine, who plays Alfred the butler in the current Batman films and also starred in The Prestige for Nolan, told MTV, "I think there might be a part for me [in Inception]." He added, "I will know this week if I'm going to be in it." Meanwhile, Joblo spoke with the manager for Gary Oldman who, while denying the rumor that Oldman was in Iron Man 2, revealed that he was scheduled to speak with Nolan later today. The site then speculated that perhaps that means Oldman, who plays Commissioner Gordon in Nolan's Bat-films, might also be up for a part in Inception.

The cast of Christopher Nolan's ambitious-sounding sci-fi flick Inception continues to expand, with Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy joining the production, according to The Hollywood Reporter .
Watanabe – who previously worked with Nolan on Batman Begins – will play the film's villain, who blackmails Leonardo DiCaprio's CEO. Hardy, meanwhile, will play a member of DiCaprio's team. You might remember him from Star Trek: Nemesis, RocknRolla and Black Hawk Down. Besides DiCaprio, the pair also join the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard in the film. Nolan is set to begin shooting the project this summer, in time for a 2010 release.

IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Inception, directed by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) and starring multiple Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, will be released to IMAX theatres simultaneously with the film's wide release in conventional theatres on July 16, 2010.
The film marks the third IMAX project for Christopher Nolan, following the record-breaking IMAX release of The Dark Knight, which grossed more than $65 million at IMAX theatres. Inception, a contemporary sci-fi action film set within the architecture of the mind, will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with IMAX DMR technology. The film also stars Oscar nominee Ellen Page, Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe, Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Oscar nominee Tom Berenger and Academy Award winner Michael Caine. "Chris Nolan and IMAX have proven to be ideally suited to each other, and we're very excited to bring them back together again for Inception," said Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. Picture's president of domestic distribution. "With the rapidly growing IMAX network, our IMAX audience base for this release will be significantly larger than it was for The Dark Knight, which will add to the film's event status." "Chris Nolan's unique vision makes his films ideally suited for the IMAX format," said Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President, Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures International. "As the number of IMAX screens around the world continues to grow, we're thrilled to continue to supply films like Inception, which become that much richer when experienced in IMAX."
