"two standouts being star Jessica Biel and character actor R. Lee Ermey"

R Lee ermey was the only good performance in this movie, has anyone seen Peter Jacksons the Frightners, he is well funny in that!, but come on Jessica Biel was so lame in this movie, yeah she's a pretty girl, but theres got to be more than that, I kept thinking I was watching a jeans or face cream advert, I would not have been suprised to see her turn to the camera and say "because im worth it"

And as for explaining Leatherfaces actions by him taking his mask off and suffering with a facial cleft, he's haddicaped so he kills, that really shows the director has no respect for the intelligence of his audience at all!

Music video directers should direct music videos, because every time they turn there hand to movies it just looks like MTV with less music!

Finally someone who sees this movie for what it is, and not what it tries to be. The main character as well as the depiction of Leatherface sickens me. One of the worst attempts at horror ive seen in a long time....

texas chainsaw massacre

I'm a big fan of good horror films, disgusting and disturbing particularly, and this remake fit the bill. You shouldn't watch this movie and try to compare it to the original. This had everything a good horror movie should have. Excellent villians, R.Lee Ermy in particular, great sets, and some wonderfully gruesome scenes, and the intensity level is off the charts. I was rivetted to my seat.
If you want to nitpick about the acting, actually I thought the actors playing the Hewitt family were outstanding, or that leatherface took off his mask, then you're not a fan of this genre.

note to Arioch; You didn't like the movie because Leatherface sickened you, well guess what! Thats what he's supposed to do.

It wasn't that bad but it butchered the original..

R Lee Ermey was the only saving grace in this movie imo..

dude, tcm rox, the original is the best, but you do have to give props to the sequel, for a modern version, they kept it prety close to the original storyline, i hope to hear of more leatherface based movies in the near future!:D
