War Movies

Anybody like war movies?

I have always had a keen interest in the WW2 era stuff.

Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, Patton and such were great movies.

Hamburger Hill and Full Metal Jacket were great Vietnam era movies also.

I like cynical war movies. Flag-waving, I'm-happy-to-die for my country crap really gets on my nerves. My favorite war movies are Peckinpah's Cross of Iron, Sam Fuller's Steel Helmet, and Platoon.

Many of the Italian Apocalypse Now rip-offs are also crazy, especially Last Hunter (with David Warbeck) and Blue Tornado.

Full Metal Jacket was great. The first time that I saw that movie I was really really stoned. I didn't know that it was going to go from insanely funny to intensely rivetting in like no time. So I was totally fucked up when the fat soldier shot the drill sarge. It's funny in retrospect. :D

Saving Privat Ryan was pretty good.

Have you ever just sort of thought about the change in enemies that we've all see over the years. For most of us it was the Russians and the the Arabs. For others it was South East Asia and on. Pretty interesting.

Don't forget the Germans, Italians, and Japanese in WW2.

And Koreans also.

Though all this has changed now.
