Angels Hanging From A Tree

Like a lot of people in the country today I'm on the verge of losing my job. In a shop that used to employ over sixty people we're down to seventeen and four of those work in the office. I'm one of the lucky thirteen. The four people in my department have been promised fulltime work til Christmas, but after that if the boat shows don't generate any orders it looks very bleak. The Christmas spirit has taken a hike. So I've made a decision, a small one but a decision nonetheless. As I walked the mall this morning I passed the Salvation Army angel tree just outside Target. I don't know about anyone else but the sight of all those angels with gift requests for less fortunate children rip me apart. So for every week before Christmas that I work forty hours I'm going to pluck a few angels off the tree and try to fill those requests. Did it this morning. Grabbed a couple that wanted movie certificates. Easy enough. Don't have to spend hours searching for toys and games I've never heard of. Maybe they'll go see a horror movie and even join HDC someday.:)
