Need Horror fans perspective..

Hey I'm a graphic designer doing some research within the horror film community. I'm designing a logo for a Horror film festival and was just wondering what it was that would attract you guys to the festival just by the title. So far the main conscensus is don't make it too cheesy (blood splatters etc. etc.), wondering if you guys felt the same way and had any suggestions.

Call it the "Town of Blood" and have loads of pictures of skeletons.

Nah, really. I think maybe a few nods to some old and new horror hilms and maybe have it look like a very low quality sign. By that, I mean maybe the kind of thing you'd find in a horror film, with the folks travelling across the outback and they see a sign to a "hotel".
