The next HDC Project speculation thread

I don't want to derail __V__s hibernation thread anymore (lest we wake him from his nap)

So I'll put up this speculation thread. It's a tease, but if you want to discuss the possibilities, share thoughts or ask me questions (which I'll do my best to answer, but not give anything away) feel free to use it.

Many of you have already volunteered to help regardless of the project. We'll need you all, trust me, in any way, shape or form you're willing to help.

2009 is going to be a year of great fun, I have a feeling:)

Thank you all for your support, from me and on behalf of __V__,

-Flayed

Thanks to everyone who has posted ALL the info on HDC. I am so new to all of this. I thought I knew what horror was until I came here. :o

Flayed, what is your favorite horror movie that does not include animal cruelty (causes RAGE in me), isn't too cheesy, and is more psychological than gory? For some reason, gore doesn't bother me. I usually think it looks ridiculously fake.*laughs*

Any ideas? Halloween is my favorite season and I'd like to have something new to watch.

If this is not in the appropriate place, I apologize. If anyone else has some suggestions, I'd appreciate them. ;)

I'll help coach you through this a bit. I'll answer each part of your question as it applies to this thread and HDC in general. From my POV, anyway.

We're a very eclectic and knowledgeable group of fans. Make sure you take the time to read the stickies we've worked so hard to prepare for the newcomers. There are some of us here who are jaded to new fans asking the same questions (I was one for a time) so take the snide comments in stride. Try to learn a bit about us as well. We're a fun group in a unique situation.

Either you're barbing me, or you naively just described my favorite movie of all time, The Exorcist III. As far as animal cruelty, do you mean simulated or real? There are so few actual professional productions that feature animal cruelty in the horror genre that I know of that I can count them on one hand. I know a couple of them outside of genre (the whole Disney lemming documentary comes to mind) but for the most part, if people are talking about this they're referring to Cannibal Holocaust. See the Most Disturbing sticky above for an excellent dissertation on the film by Pr3ssur3.

It's actually not. We do a lot of projects around here, and have a lot of fun as a group. This thread is for speculation on the next project. Although I appreciate your asking, members will get frustrated if you're asking inappropriate questions in the wrong threads. I've recently been guilty of the same thing myself.

In conclusion, take time to read threads thoroughly and endear yourself to us. We're generally pretty friendly as long as a new member doesn't make a complete ass-hat out of themselves. Now, get to reading, keep posting and hopefully you'll be around long enough to participate in the threads namesake topic, mate:)

Oops! I've been reading all the stickied topics. Most people don't mention anything about "certain parts" of a movie. I'm originally a suspense/thriller lover so maybe I don't belong here.

I've watched too many movies where the family pet gets killed or tortured. Although it isn't real, it still angers me greatly. I usually watch movies about serial killers. I guess that's why I have witnessed the "animal thing" so many times. One movie, for example, is The Neighbor (I think it's called) and there's a scene where a woman finds her pet Schnauzer dog murdered.

I have had 5 Miniature Schnauzers in the last 14 or 15 years. Two of them are alive today. I lost one last week to cancer. Perhaps I'm too fragile for any of these movies at this time.

I think I just jumped in here and gave everyone the impression that I am this stupid idiot who doesn't know **** about anything. Anyway, I know what I like to watch and I'm pretty picky. I loathe condescension but I'm able to keep from replying to it most of the time...;)

Thanks, newb, Dante, pinkfloyd, and others who have kindly answered my questions and replied to my posts. Also, cougar and was it manchester? (the member with the Siberian Husky), you two were also great. Flayed, again, I apologize.

Take care,
Nella

I'd say our next project will be a pancake breakfast to benefit victims of Lucifer Valentine films.
