Healthy Living?

Okay, the other day when I was at Rugby practice, I was thinking. You see, we do a mile and a half run, the something called the shuttle run which involved doing thirty situps, squat thrusts and push ups with a hell of a lot of running in between. I'm always one of the last to finish the run and find the shuttles harder than most people seem to.

That wouldn't normally be a worry to me, except I used to be one of the fastest and fittest of my friends. So, I decided to turn things around. I'm going to the gym at least once a week, as well as rugby. That's exercise covered.

It's the food that's worrying me. I've decided to drink more water and only eat my main meals, or if I feel peckish some fruit or a plain piece of bread. I'm a couple of days into my new lifestyle but I'm finding it difficult. I have plenty of fruit, but how can I vary it? Mainly I'm just having oranges and slices of bananas and it's getting boring. Anybody have any suggestions? I don't wanna do any of that counting calories crap.

For starters, quit worrying about it. You arent overweight, and you dont want to start the weight management worrying now or it will become your lifestyl;e. i know plenty of people who are obsessed with their weight and never had an issue, ever.

As for the boredom, there are plenty of healthy things out there. 100 calorie packs of cookies and stuff arent just for people trying to lose weight, they are a good way to get something different without going overboard.

Also, make sure you treat yourself every once in a while. if you go cold-turkey, you will fail because eventually you will ninge, or you will just be miserable with life (which also leads to binging)

for anyone who does want to lose weight - vegetables are better than fruit.
there's a lot of natural sugar in fruit ... i read somewhere that one glass of orangejuice is like 3/4 of a glass too much.

Yup. When Bree was going hardcore on her weightloss, fruit was pretty much out of the question, except for an occaisional banana or apple, and no juice.

Vegetables are lower in sugar, mostly because they arent generally a vector the plant is trying to use to spread seeds, so they have vitamins and little else.

I'm not so focused on losing weight, it's just I want to remain a good weight. My BMI is 21.0 which is within what I should be.

It's more building up the energy and that to be in a fit state for my life.

I went through a Bulimic fase about a year ago when I was worried but luckily I got over it and since then I've been okay with my appearance, it's just the fitness I'd like.

And thanks for the suggestions.

Good luck, it is very, very hard to do. I tend to eat a lot of veggies, I actually don't mind them. If you drink pop, stop, drink water and juice.

Drink lots and lots of beer, till you feel sick, but not to the point till you throw up, every night for a week or two. food is the last thing you will want the next day:D ;)

There's nothing to eat in England.
But, seriously, without counting calories, you can still approximate an 1,800 calorie diet, which has very little weight gain risk and you'll get plenty to eat. Since it doesn't sound like you're especially into candy or fried foods it will give you the energy you need to perform.
