Virus

Has anyone seen Virus (1980) directed by Kinji Fukasaku? (I have to ask that because there was a horrible movie called Virus in the same year)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080768/

It's about the military secretly (secret to the president even) developing a new weapon. An incredibly deadly, highly contagious and incurable disease. The disease breaks out in Italy and quickly runs rampant all over the world. Upon finding out that the disease lies dormant in -10 temperatures, the president calls all stations in the Antarctic. He informs them never to try and come back and to not let anyone else arrive at these stations.

That's basically all I can say without giving anything away that wouldn't be in the movie description.

I was just thinking that I would love to see this movie be remade. The original is too long, their are a few very poorly acted scenes and they didn't have the budget it needed I don't think. They did have some great actors in the movie though, Olivia Hussey, Glenn Ford, Sonny Chiba.

I really loved this film, but yeah I can see how it's a candidate for remaking.

In a similar vein, Neil Marshal's upcoming Doomsday treads some of the same territory but with a Road Warrior/Escape From New York vibe.

nope - that one was a turd. this Virus was a pretty cool apocalyptic tale of disease and war and earthquakes.
