Guinea Pig Series...Someone Tell Me What The Big Deal Is

I've heard about these for quite a while, so I had to check them out...Especially since they were mentioned in our very own 'The Sickest, Gorific, Disturbing and Controversial - HDC's "Visually Challenging" 100' thread...

Impressions so far?

1) Devil's Experiment: BORING...Seriously...The 'torture victim' seemed to be a bit bored as well

2) Flowers Of Flesh And Blood: Far too 'clinical' and cheesy, not too mention, filled with flaws (How can you breathe when you have no lungs? How do you NOT bleed to death when both arms and legs have been removed and not cauterized or 'sealed' in some way?...How does blood PUMP out of an arm that isn't attached to the body?)...Maybe it would have been better if the girl wasn't sedated...Maybe not...

3) He Never Dies: This one was okay...It was kinda funny, and had a storyline...I can handle this one, but it isn't 'sick, gory, or disturbing' by a long shot

4) Mermaid In The Manhole: Veeerry sloooow...A 10 minute story stretched into an hour...Some pretty decent gore shots (would make 2 or 3 good pix) near the end though...

5) Android Of Notre Dame: I'm watching it now...Can't really comment except to say that I'm having a difficult time staying interested in it...(Which is why I'm typing this, instead of paying attention)
EDIT: Watched it...It's okay, I guess...Not really 'gory' and nothing anyone hasn't seen a million times already...This is another one that was drug out for far too long...A halfway decent storyline...Just needed to speed it up some

6) Devil Woman Doctor: This one is basicly a comedy anthology...There are a couple of stories near the end that aren't too terribly bad, but nothing that I couldn't have gone without watching...Certainly not shocking or disturbing...I'm sure that some people might find the vicious growling, snapping 'turd in the box' funny

7) The 'unofficial sequel' - Lucky Sky Diamond: I haven't watched this one yet, but it's supposed to be somewhat different than the others...Hopefully, for the better

Anyway...If anyone here 'gets' these...Please explain to me what all the hype is about...

They have a lot of gore and silly sloshy sound effects. I think the big reason they became so popular is the whole Charlie Sheen story.

That certainly made me curious...But now I just wonder what made Charlie Sheen think that any of this looked even CLOSE to real...Only the eye scene in the first one looked halfway convincing...That one actually was pretty good

As for gore? Herschell Gordon Lewis's movies have FAR more gore than any of these...even Hostel had more gore, for that matter...And that's just sad...

im going to second the charlie sheen thi8ng, but if you look at Flowers of Flesh and blood. its very verywell done, anatomically i mean. its prettty straight forward but its a great input to the snuff/hardcore torture genre.

i didnt enjoy devil experiment except the main torture skewer, Devil Woman Doctor isnt good, its more eery that a transvestite is the woman doctor doing crazed experiments.

He Never dies was a fairly funny and down right entertaining. iots much easier to watch then someone just getting choped up for no apparent reason.

didnt like andorid of notre dame what so ever.

still need to see Mermaid in a manhole and SKy of diamonds, not sure what its called.

i take it youve only seen devils experiment cause Flowers of Flesh and Blood is pretty much a hour of gore. devils experiment is more of a experiment of torture and FOFAB is a sadistic samurai chopping this chick up.

its kind of funny how you mentioned H.G Lewis i just checked out The Wizard of Gore today and it is pretty grizzly, but FOFAB is more gore.

Just a matter of timing as to when it came out, plus the Charlie Sheen thing, plus the fact that everybody loves J-horror.

We're going to have to just disagree on this one as to what pertains to the amount of gore...The only thing I saw in Flowers Of Flesh And Blood that might seem 'gory' was the guts being pulled out (Raines's death in Day Of The Dead was FAR better), and the eyeball/spoon thing (Lewis's Gore, Gore Girls has this one beat all to hell)

Dismembered limbs (especially when they look so fake...The dismembered legs don't even match up to the thighs, completely different sizes) are fairly common, and when they are cut with a clean line instead of ripped off and ragged, they're pretty bland (That was why I said 'clinical'...Looked more like amputation surgery)...Props on the hammer and chisel for the one shoulder (the only one that they actually showed being removed), but that's about it

I think Mermaid and Flesh are two decent entries but the rest are just redundant. Nothing new, nothing exciting, and nothing really to add to the series. (By the way, responding to threads is getting silly because HDC doesn't seem to be refreshing correctly for me tonight so if I double post or something... get over it.)

The Devil's Experiment fucked me up with its nasty mindedness awhile back. Gore with some kinda story is ok by me this was like some twisted porno flick. Of course its obvious its fake I just found it a bit unsettling..... probably due to how stoned and the people I was watching it with (pretty straightlaced as far as movies go). Kinda put me off extreme cinema for a bit but not for long haha :)

This series kinda reminds me of Cannibal Halocaust only really worth watching to see what all the hype surrounding its about.
