My look on Horror movies

Hey guys, I'm new to this site.

I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you guys my look on horror movies.

Alright, so.. I thought I was a big fan of Horror movies. But after I read a lot of threads on this forum, I guess I'm not such a big fan after all. After seeing you guys talk about movies from 1980s and before! I didn't even know you were allowed to enjoy that sort of stuff =P (No offense). In my opinion, I cannot stand old horror movies, probably cause it's hard to relate to them.

Anyhow, Here's a list of Horror movies that I LOVED/Enjoyed.
- Hostel
- The Hills Have Eyes (21st Century)
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (21st Century)
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beggining (21st Century)
- Dawn of the Dead
- 28 Days Later
- Saw 1
- Turistas
- The Wrong Turn

Anyways, I would have to say Hostel and Dawn of the Dead were the 2 best horror movies out there.

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't really watch horror movies to watch the torture scenes ..? I was reading in some topics to hear comments like "Omg, It was awsome how he got slashed." or "Omg, there wasn't enough torture".
I mean, in my opinion, the torture in a Horror movie is used to make the "escape" (It's what I call when the main characters are running away) much more intense because creates a much more bigger concequence of getting caught.

Anyhow, I still refuse to watch anything that is older than the year 2000. But, I would still give Freddy, Jason, and The Halloween serieses a chance if I had to. (They actually seem good).

Out of the Horror movies I've seen. I've seen 2 that I just couldn't watch:
- House of 1000 Corpses
- The Descent

Okay, Again House of 1000 Corpses is an old movie, And I HATED it. It's so dum and pointless!! Anyways, enough said about that.

I don't know if I rented the wrong movie or something, But I thought the Descent was TERRIBLE. It seemed like it was filmed in 1980 or something. It looked really old to me. Anyways, I got up to the first ten minutes of when they were in the cave, and I just turned it off and switched the movie. It was too boring to watch.

Anyways, that's my introduction to myself. Thanks for reading.

So, your pretty much not going to be well recieved here with comments like that. Anything past the year 2000? OUCH! You are quite honestly missing some of the best horror (80's).

And to clear things up... House of 1000 Corpses is NOT an old movie, not at all. It was made in 2003. The Descent in 2005...

Ha, I see, I see. Should I leave the forums then and never return? =]

I forgot to mention, I'm only 14, maybe I don't like watching movies from before I was born. =P

EDIT: By the way Posher, when you say Silent Hill (Your 8th favourite), Do you mean the movie about that video game? Cause even I know that was a terrible movie.

You will be shocked to know that the two biggest supports of 'classics' on this forum are only a few years older then you. I'm only 17 and I'll admit I wish I was born 10 years earlier so I could have grown up with the horror in the 80's.

Nope I dont soften one bit. You must be a noob fan of the genre, because you cant even distinguish your choices in horror. Watch some more movies and come back here. Maybe by then you might have had some enlightenment.

Do you have any suggestions?

And If I don't like the movies you suggested, Should I even bother coming to this forum?

And, it's true, I can't distinguish my choices in horror. I'm mainly a random type of guy, I'd watch any movies besides oldies. Maybe I can't stand the quality. (There's only been 3 movies I've seen that I didn't like: The two I mentioned earlier, and Babel.
