Good point, but this version of GNR isn't going to "rock" in the sense that the original band did. Every song that has been heard from chinese democracy(the demo leaks from last year, live performances, and this new leak from the album) is very epic in nature. The entire structure and complexity of the songs is in a completely different league than old GNR.

For one thing, the lineup is entirely different, basically allowing this band to have unlimited potential. They have 3 guitarists, one of them being Buckethead(no longer in the band, but will be on the album). They also have 2 keyboard players, one of which is Chris Pitman, who is a genius on synth and has done some amazing work for the band Tool. The drummer is Brain, who along with Buckethead, created one of the greatest instrumental albums of all time(Praxis' Transmutation).

Axl has Paul Buckmaster and Marco Beltrami doing orchestral arrangements on the album, and both have raved on how good the material is. A GNR song that fans haven't heard yet, titled "Prostitute", is regarded by the few who have heard it as possibly the best GNR song ever. Buckmaster referred to the song as "a mid-up, kind of biting, aggressive rhythm section; the way I wrote for the string section (32-piece, consisting of ten 1st Violins, eight 2nd Violins, six violas, and eight cellos) gives the song another dimension of, ice and fire, kind of powerful".

Here is one of the only true "rockers" that has been heard so far:

I.R.S. (the Buckethead solo during Axl's insane scream is mindblowing)

Here is a poppy rocker(best way to describe it) called Better. This song has top 10 hit written all over it. The metal jam in the middle of the song hits you over the head like a sledgehammer.

Here is a very rough demo(from 1999) called Catcher in the Rye. The lyrics are incredible, and Axl is basically singing about the murder of John Lennon, from Chapman's point of view.

Here's another rough demo called There Was a Time. Listen to the Buckethead outro on this song. It will give you chills.
