How Many Will Last?

Just a curious thought. . . i rarely drop into the new member lounge - and now that i have stopped by i realize why.

there are so many 'hello' threads and it occurs to me that the vast majority of these hellos will never be seen again (or may have 5-10 posts before disappearing). . . so I wonder:

what percentage of 'noobs' continue to post after their 'hello"?
and,
why do some stay and some leave?

Well, I went through and did some rough estimating.

Since January, there have been roughly 290 threads. I'd say there are at least 15 that are old threads bumped or threads that have nothing to do with n00bs, so let's say 275 newbs in 8 months that took the time to say hello. Out of those, there are roughly 8 that I recognize whom have posted any significant amount that have also posted in the last month. Those are:

The Flayed One
monalisa
persuasian70
crazy raplh
Yeti.13
Miss Olivia

and I'm throwing in Roderick Usher & punk666 for good measure, as I think they'll both stick around.

So, out of those who register that bother to say hi, you can count on roughly 3% to stick around. I know there are a few around who didn't make a thread, like tarcher, that are aroun & post regularly.

hey! i've been here since 5-26-2006, which was in the last 8 months. i have over 650 posts, which isn't really that significant, but i post regularly (at least i think i do, it's been hard to fit internet in between homework, band, and school these days).

i don't know. i like it here and i don't plan to leave anytime soon.

I didnt bother to make one when I started here...I made a fake one for this account because I didnt want people to know I was back after the banning, but I never bothered with one for my Vampenguin account.
