Anybody rented from RedBox

Anybody rented from "RedBox"? This is the vending machine with movies in them and you probably have them at your local supermarket. It has all the new releases. For 1 buck to rent a movie for a night, I thought it was a great deal and better option than Netflix, Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. I rented "V for Vendetta" for only a dollar on my credit card. Awesome!!

Anybody else ever rent from one of the movie vending machines and had good experience with them? Or am I gonna find some hidden charges on my credit card?

We have absolutely nothing like that here...How do you return them?...Is there a return slot in the vending machine or something?...How do they know if you return them on time?

It's a real cool concept. I have them all around in my local supermarkets on Long Island. They charge your credit card $1 per night but it has to be back by 7 pm the next night or they will charge you another buck. It comes out in a hard plastic case and you return in the same slot. I am assuming it uses the barcodes so it knows that it was returned in time.

Its a touch computer screen and you just select the movies you want. After credit card swipe, you plug in zip code and that's it. I was little bit suspicious but it looks legit and extremely cheap.

Ahh...So then you HAVE to use a credit card, that's how they get your name in case you don't return them on time...Interesting concept...But, yeah I would be a little wary about 'hidden charges'...

I wonder how long it will take before we get them here...

I think I'll wait and see what happens to YOU, before I try it :p

Keep us informed

Ya know...I was just thinking about this...Computers screw up all the time...What if it DOESN'T register that you returned it on time, or even at all...Next thing you know you've got a $100 charge on your credit card...And how would you have any mistakes fixed?...This just makes me kinda nervous

well you would be 100 bucks in debt with redbox LOL But it looks like a great thing for people who go the supermarkets a lot. I personally never go because I never buy food. Too much fast food for me

They actually have the machines at McDonalds. That is a recipe for disaster and more overweight people. For example, you rent a movie and pickup food on monday and then on tuesday, you gotta go back to McDonalds to return it.

That's a nice little trap set by McDonalds.

Yeah, they have those in the McDs around the Twin Cities too, but I've never rented from one. I pay $20 a month for Netflix and I'd estimate that I probably get 18-20 movies per month from them so the cost is right about the same, plus no late fees and I don't have to leave the house.
