Its a quality film and well worth watching. If you get the chance buy or rent it asap.
Im not surprised there is a re-make on the cards, I am surprised it hasn't been done sooner in truth.

Battle Royale is my all time fav movie. If you want it you can try Netflix or HKflix, they usually have it. If not you can try ebay for a copy. Try this one
Battle Royale DVD I read somewhere they were gonna make an US version of it. But it was later dropped for some reason. Hopefully they ll revive it and make a kickass movie like the original. Here's to hoping...

where'd you hear that? Cause the reason they haven't released it on DVD in the states is because the people who own the rights to it won't sign off, so I don't see why they'd sign off on a re-make instead

We all know once the u.s version comes out it won't even compare to the orginal. Japaness action films blows away any u.s action pack film. Rent Batle Royal that can't happen to many pussy rentle place. I have to buy it which if it's that good it will be worth it. Maybe it would be cool if they have a demo of any film you want to check out before buying. like a free website yahoo dosn't work i tried it. :D Rikki o is one of my favorate but some parts looked stupid. Where i herd this from I was watching (AOTS) attack of the show, and they had the thing called the Feed and they mention it.

Pretty insense bit of ultra violence. Gore galore. Check it out, but stay way the hell away from the aweful sequel.

New Line set to do 'Battle'
Studio sets up 'Royale' remake New Line has decided to launch "Battle Royale," buying the remake rights to the controversial Japanese sci-fi pic and setting up the project with Neal Moritz and Roy Lee.Original film, produced by Toie and released in 2000 amid concerns about its violence, is set in an apocalyptic future in which schools are overrun by uncontrolled violence; the government responds by organizing an annual Battle Royale, in which a school class is picked at random and students are pitted against each other on an abandoned island in a game of survival. Toie also produced a sequel in 2003, "Battle Royale II --Requiem," in which a new class of teen students are forced to battle a rebel group let by a survivor of a previous Battle Royale. Moritz's Sony-based Original banner has upcoming releases including Sony's "The Gridiron Gang" and Universal's "Tokyo Drift," the third installment of "The Fast And The Furious" franchise. Producing credits for Lee's U-based Vertigo Entertainment shingle include horror imports "The Ring" and "The Ring Two," sequel "The Grudge 2" and "The Lake House." Date in print: Thurs., Jun. 8, 2006 |

This could be cool if they don't dumb it down and get rid of the crazy violence. I thought the US version of the Grudge was good so this might just work and become a cult classic.

I can't see Hollywood doing a movie about kids killing kids.I'm sure they will fuck it up and use 25 yr old WB stars.
