You'd probably like it better if they had the alternate ending:
SPOILERS!!!! Marv and Hartigan don't die, the bad guys see the errors of their ways and turn themselves in to the proper authorities, but not before all the movie characters join hands, the film turns to colour (ala Wizard of Oz) and they all buy the world a Coke. END SPOILERS!!! Of course, that was when the movie was called Jolly Sunshine Happiness...
