identify this horror movie

Ok, I saw this movie years ago and have always wanted to see it again but i have no idea what the title is. All I remember is a few scenes from it that hopefully you guys can recognize. Ok, one scene had this kid digging in his back yard. As he is digging he digs into some weird undeground cave or something. I cant remember if there was anything in it or not. Anyways this kid has this big sheep dog but early in the movie the dog dies and is buried. Later this one kid wakes up and thinks he sees some girl in his house at night. Hes like in a trance and walks to her and starts dancing with her. His sibling wakes up and comes to see him dancing with the dead dog. The dog is all gross lookin seeing as how its been buried for awhile.

Another scene involves someone going to answer a door and when he/she answers it its like someone that they think they know but its really like an evil spirit or something. Eventually in the movie they have to go into the basement because there is something down there that will stop the monsters from attacking them.

This is all i remember. It could very well be that im explaining a few movies. All i know is that i vividly remember the dog scene. Please if any of you recognise this movie tell me because I really want to see it again.

Was the actor kid "stephan dorf" and did he love to fly rockets?
he was levitated at the party. eyeball on his hand? he had a nerdy friend with an iron maiden jacket...creepy lil trolls come from the Hole.

I have seen at least 5 threads about this movie in the last month or so, and it's always "what movie is this", the bad thing is, it's not really a good horror movie. It's more of a kid movie like the Goonies.

Let this movie die in peace.
