Teacher Tells Students They Are All Gonna Die
Pupils Scared By Asteroid Spoof
Pupils were told an asteroid was on a collision course with Earth Pupils were left in tears after a teacher told them that an asteroid was about to hit Earth and kill them all. The spoof announcement was designed to teach 14-year-olds the importance of seizing the day but backfired after they became visibly frightened. Keith Hogan, head teacher at St Matthew's RC High School in Moston, Manchester, said he regretted any distress caused to the 230 pupils. The head of year behind the assembly "stunt" later moved to reassure them. He had told the year nine students that the asteroid was on a "collision course". It is also believed that the students were told that they should go home and say "final farewells" to their families. Pupils 'reassured' The teacher then admitted the story was a stunt aimed at underlining the theme of the assembly - "living each day to the full". Head Mr Hogan said: "Obviously I regret the fact that any student was distressed by the content and delivery of the assembly. "However, I am confident that the head of year acted appropriately and professionally in dealing with the incident. "Following the assembly the head of year visited every year nine class and again told the students that the story was untrue and made every effort to ensure that those students who had been anxious were reassured."

That would scare the living hell out of most of 'em, I'm sure. I'd transfer after that- that's just plain cruel. I'm so glad they don't do that where I'm from.

I probably wouldn't have freaked out at that age either...I'd at least of asked for some kind of evidence.
A CONVINCING "you're gonna die act" would be to stage something with at least three other teachers in a class. Pre-lock all the doors. Have one stand up the front and pull a handgungun out, waving it 'round at the class, saying that they're sick of it all, and the shit they have to deal with "because of you damn kids", paying special attention to the "bullies" and troublemakers...making sure to tell at least one of them how good it's gonna be to put a hole through their head first. The kids would probably initially react in shock, and go to the other teachers, who would then pull their guns out... If you wanted to get more elaborate, the teachers could pre-plan this with 1-2 of the "good" kids...have them stand up to their classmates defense, and have them "shot dead"....with blanks. Even do some hoax police calls over the PA system, all that. Have one of the "bad" teachers have a heart and start saying about how they can't do this, have a four-way standoff between everyone with guns, "good kid #2" should make a run for the door, also get "shot", then have the teachers start shooting at eachother, making sure everyone that gets shot does so convincingly, blood packs and capsules provided for all. Have only ONE teacher remain alive, the "good" one that had a change of heart. Have them look around, completely shocked....and start mumbling about how it's all fucked up say how sorry they are, and shoot himself, in the chest. When all the kids get up to run out, to find the doors are locked, have all the plahyers reveal that it was only a joke...etc. Now THAT would be a better way to get them appreciating life. To witness and live through a murder/hostage situation. Of course...this would never happen, and if it did, those involed would most likely be in prison, undergoing psychological examinations...but the kids in the class will appreciate life more than ever. Mission accomplished one way or another... Yeah yeah, ok, so I think weird things....sue me. |
