Evil Dead II : Dead by Dawn was really just a higher budget remake of #1.

If the person directing this new remake understands what it took to make the evil deads a fan success then we just might get a good film.

Raimi is one of the few fringe filmmakers who is still credible after finding fame. If he keeps near the project there is an excellent chance that it could be a balls up movie.

The biggest problem we face is that if it is a bigger film it wont take the risks Raimi took. The last thing we need is a toned down evil dead. The screen should run red with blood.

I thought that both Evil dead 1 and 2 were both great and different movies.

they were !

but there was no continuing timeline ... #2 started as if #1 never happened.

it was a remake without repeating everything.
The origional was practically a student film shot on (i think) 16mm.

Dead till dawn was a 'real film' made with actors and a proper crew, not just a bunch of passionate and highly inventive friends.

#3 definately was a continuation of #2

I love all 3 movies for 3 different reasons .. but they are all pure Raimi.

...

I was just watching Evil Dead (for like the millionth time...) and I thought something.

That movie could have been a million times scarier and I think it would have been better if it had been a totally serious scary movie. The sequels are purposely funny and they are great, but people forget that Evil Dead wasn't supposed to be funny at all.

I think the remake is going to be better than the original. I think Sam Raimi truly wants to remake this movie into what he wanted in the first place, a truly horrifying movie. This time around he'll have a budget that doesn't limit his creativity. You'll see, it's going to be great.

Edit: Just found out how little Raimi really cares... It could have been so great if he'd direct it. :(

I kinda want them to remake it. I heard Campbell and Raimi were producing it..

But all we need is another remake..oh well theres still not very many good "horror" movies coming out in this day and age so if it comes out..i'll see it.....if it doesnt..no sweat off my back..
