Yup, its been hotter than usual recently but not unbearable. Complete lack of rain though has meant we are now officially in drought conditions in the north west of England, £1000 fine if you use a hosepipe.

We are quite lucky here in the UK, its the most temperate area on the planet so we don't generally suffer from extremes.

I wish there was a fine like that on Long Island; people just keep watering their lawns because they want them to constantly look like a green carpet. Grass just goes dormant in conditions like this, it doesn't die.

SEE??
That makes perfect sense!

Don't get me started on lawns.
My neighborhood is the Stepford community with their perfect anally retentive lawns...you get fined for not having your grass cut a certain length and if the HOA deems your lawn 'unfit,' they hire someone to come cut it and you get the bill...usually marked up 300%.
This is the same HOA that wants all neighborhood cats to be on leashes...not allowed to roam and be...well, you know, cats.

Thank God there's no homeowner's association in our neighborhood; I don't think I could live with that.

Bentley Little wrote a great story called The Association about a homeowner's association that goes just a little further into controlling every aspect of a resident's life than your average homeowner's association.

I think I almost got heatstroke on tuesday, head was pounding, I was dizzy as hell, and I felt like I had to puke non-stop, luckily I was fishing, so all I had to do was take a nice swim in the lake. Thank god it cooled down today. I might even play some video games, which happen to be situated in my hot ass living room, cause our A/C is busted. Thank god for ice packs and fans.

I can't recall it ever being this hot on Long Island before and I've lived here all my life.

Sorry for the rant, but when the temperature reaches over 100 degrees or goes below zero (which we also experienced this past winter) I tend to get edgy.

I do roofing, shut up. lol
