i love that you said that. completely explains how i feel about movies today. Yea and if its not a foreign film that can include all these aspects, then its the occasional short indie film that really makes you think and leaves that terror in your mind even though the film is a mere 10 minutes... i think im gonna go on a search for one :)
And dont even get me started on all the remakes lately ... I absolutely Implore them! its extremely rare that there is a good remake... (in my opinion at least) |

I've never really gotten into shorts but maybe i should. Wanna recommend one?
I hate remakes. They're so pointless. I don't get the whole argument about introducing them to a new audience. The original is still there for the new audience to watch. Its just another way for Hollywood to make money by remaking something they already knew worked. I'm trying to think of a good remake. I appreciate what Rob Zombie was trying to do with the new Halloween but it really fell flat, especially since one thing that was so great about Micheal Myers was how he was this emotionless, being (The Shape) that basically had no human side. Zombie humanized him and had you actually feeling bad for him. You're not supposed to feel bad for Micheal Myers! Let Me In was good IMO but still not as good as Let The Right One In. I still dont even see what the purpose was in remaking that, except of course to profit from it. I also cant think of a time i would choose to watch Let Me In over Right One. Finding ones i hated is easier: Nightmare on Elm Street Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Hills Have Eyes The Omen Psycho Im gonna stop now or else this will go on for awhile. |

Haha I can go on and on too.
They are a complete disgrace... Ugh And some shorties I found to be pretty good were some of the films in the seasons of 8 films to die for. I loved Reincarnation and The Hamiltons. Have you watched the seasons of Masters of Horror?... I miss them Soo much! This is one my bf sent me that i found particularly interesting. It may not be considered horror exactly but it does stick in your mind :) Here's the link: http://vimeo.com/6312563 Enjoy ;) |

The After Dark movies are shorts? I thought those were full length movies. I never saw Reincarnation or The Hamiltons, been meaning to though. That was the only year that i didnt see all the movies. I've tried to watch them all, i have favorites from every year. I'm actually watching Seconds Apart right now.
I loved Masters of Horror. The Fair Haired Child was my favorite. What about you? Just watched that video you sent me, that was pretty chilling. Kinda reminded me of this short story by Stephen King from Skeleton Crew called The Jaunt. Both featured instantaneous transportation but had different outcomes. |

I believe the 8films are only an hour long... I may be mistaken tho.
And the Fair-haired Child was fantastic! But I have to say my favorites are all between Pick me up, Family and Dance of the Dead... Soo many characters and actors to love in those... I mean Robert Englund come on! ;D and their all so creatively demented how could you not love them :) I havnt seen that by Stephen King... I have to look that up |

I just checked. Reincarnation is 96 minutes long and The Hamiltons is 86 so not really shorts but close to it.
Dance of the Dead was great. You cant go wrong with Robert Englund except maybe The Mangler. I also really liked The Damned Thing but We all Scream for Ice Cream was terrible. |

Twas terrible. I also didn't like Cigarette Burns and I thought Pro-life was just ok... I think it was a very low role for Ron Pearlman

Usually i like Guillermo Del Toro's movies but not those. Maybe it was because it wasnt really his movie since it was a comic book or maybe it was just too cartoonish for me, i dont know. I just didnt like them.
