High Tension

i really need to find this movie and watch it again. I absolutely loved everything about it. I barely even noticed that it had so many voice over jobs. Phenomenal job none the less... (to me at least)
But i did feel that the ending was just OK and not the best to leave the audience with.
Were there any alternate endings to this film?

I love that movie. It was so perfectly crafted and it gave off a really scary tone that is really missing in horror movies lately. I had forgotten about how good the dubbing is since i havent watched it in awhile but you're right, it was phenomenal. One thing i loved about it was how intelligent it was and thats why the ending didnt really bother me, i actually liked it and thought it made sense. I just checked my copy and there isnt any alternate endings on it. Not sure if there's a different version of it with some though.

Yea I totally agree. Definetly one of my top 5.
And yeah I loved the ending as is, i was just wondering cuz I think it could have gone Soo many routes, but the one they choose suited it just fine :)

Oh yeah, its definitely the kind of movie where you would expect it to have a lot of endings. Have you seen the Unrated version?

Nini_luv5 05-29-2011 05:53 PM

Hmm... I might have but I cannot recall what was different about it.
What changed from the original?

Just a lot more gore basically. The most memorable thing was when the father gets decapitated with the bookcase, they dont cut away. They show it slam into his head and then the head splintering off and a huge gush of blood pouring out of his neck. Just awesome.

That sounds Suuuper familiar. i actually think i watched the unrated version to begin with now that i think about it.
and yess... gotta love that gore <3 :D

The Villain 05-29-2011 06:07 PM

I remember the first time i saw it, it wasnt the unrated edition and as soon as i saw that there was one i immediately thought of that scene and hoped they showed it. I was very happy. I am definitely a fan of gore which is another reason i like that movie so much.

Same here.
im getting soo tired all the lame suspense and high tones that make you jump in all the films now a days... I cannot even think of another film after High Tension the comes close the horrific genius that that movie had..
Can you?

The Villain 05-29-2011 06:16 PM

Oh man, im really gonna have to think about this one for awhile. I hate the jump scares as well. They're fine for cheap popcorn flicks like Deep Blue Sea and the like but for aggressive dark horror movies, its just pathetic.

Another problem i've noticed is that horror movies seem to only focus on one thing nowadays. This movie has lots of gore, this movie is really smart, this one has good acting, this one has a good plot, this one has lots of scary monsters, etc... But no one is able to combine them anymore. Its just one or the other.

People think horror is so simple but its not, it takes thought. That's why i like foreign horror movies so much because they're not held down by the ridiculous notions of Hollywood as to gearing every movie to what they think will make the most money.

Wow sorry about the rant. Gonna have to think hard about your question there.
