Silent era, 60's, 70's, and 80's all tie for me. I was never a big fan of the 30's and 40's horror... classic Dracula, Frankenstein, and such. The 50's didn't impact me one way or another. The 90's just sucked for the most part.

I love the late seventies up to the late eighties. It all goes a bit wrong when CGI became a factor. Horror movies just seemed more realistic and a lot just seem totally Hollywood as well. Oh and of course I grew up in the eighties and watched a lot of seventies stuff on TV like The Fury and The Entity and dodgy video stuff like Troll and Ghoulies. Nice.

Yeh CGI has ruined alot of movies in my opinion I prefer hands on special effects they just look better. I'm not totally against CGI its just overused in movies today making them look fake as hell.

CGI can indeed look amazing sometimes but I think a lot of lower budget film makers use it and it looks awful. I think the worst was in Deep Blue Sea, simply awful. I love in camera effects it's so much more interesting and realistic. CGI always looks shiny and doesn't move well. It is getting better though.
