it wasnt a superhero movie .. it was a well done crime drama film.

it's the 'Scarface' for this decade.

So it comes to this...... they got you too, Urge.. :(

Scarface I can easily understand. It's got one of the all time bad asses in it. And the story is almost flawless.

The Dark Knight... It's got Heath as The Joker. I think that might be pretty much all people will remember about this movie in 20 years. And yes, I'm pretty sure about that statement. I'm not just saying this to be a jerk.

I agree and dissagree with you Angra. I'm getting a bit bored of constantly hearing about it. It's a good film but it is getting a bit tiresome now. And although up near there, I wouldn't put it in the top 20 films of the past say, 70 years. But it is still a brilliant film and was more than just a superhero movie. It wasn't about cool superhuman powers etc. It was about insanity and chaos.

Also, when did you and mothman start hating each other?

Just now.

And if you go outside and you see Mothman, I want you to shoot that fucking thing. And if it's got Dave Coulier's hair on it, I want you to shoot that thing of first, then shoot Mothman.

did you think about why ?

because his performance was deserving of all the hype. I was prepared to be let down - and was blown away. I dont care if it was batman, or little miss sunshine, or driving miss daisy ... heath ledger gave a huge performance in this film.

take him out and you still have a very cool film... al ot of other things were going on with a lot of other good actors ... but Heath as the Joker was mesmerising.

this is why people still remember midnight cowboy (dustin hoffman)
this is why people still remember Angel Heart (mickey rourke)
this is why people still remember the Maltese Falcon (bogart)

memorable movies are made memorable by memorable performances ..

your statement may very well be true - but its also true of a lot of other really good movies that people still remember.

.

Agreed. 100%.

I just don't see what all the hype, especially on a horror site like this, is coming from.

Sure it was pretty good, but compared to LOTR it was fairly forgettable. And i didn't see as much hype about LOTR when those movies were coming up.

- The final showdown in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (like MM said).
- The final scene in The French Connection (gunshot). Sends chills up my spine.
- The Kurtz execution in Apocalypse Now (a la 'The End' by The Doors).
- The scene in Goodfellas where De Niro snaps inside and we know it by a twinkle in his eye ('Sunshine of your Love')

----------------------------------

Angra- epic fail. :)

The car chase and ending to Dark Knight are the most recent ones that come to mind.

And the scene from John Carpenter's Halloween after Laurie finds the bodies and is leaning against the wall when Michael's mask slowly fades in from the door behind her.
