I'm getting mixed feelings on this. Part of me wants to go see it the day it comes out, and part of me is saying that they are going to ruin it, and not to go see it.

What has me concerned, is the fact that the art direction in the game, was amazing. That was the one thing that really held me captive while playing it. Seeing that put onto the big screen, with a sub-par script, and probably a different story, this could be a disaster.

And come on, no one else has addressed this yet. In the game, you never saw your character. Your character, is basically you. When it goes into theaters, it's going to be an actor, and viewed from a viewers perspective. It just won't be the same at all.

Spanish filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is reportedly taking over from Pirates of the Caribbean helmer Gore Verbinski as the director of the highly anticipated feature film adaptation of the Take-Two Interactive videogame BioShock.

Variety reports that the 28 Weeks Later and Intacto helmer's participation is dependent on Take-Two, which has director approval.

Verbinski will still produce the film, which was scripted by John Logan (Star Trek: Nemesis, The Aviator). The trade adds that "Fresnadillo's producing partner, Enrique Lopez Lavigne, is in talks to become a producer."

Verbinski backed out of BioShock because Universal wants to shoot the movie overseas due to budgetary considerations and he is already obligated to make the Paramount toon Rango with Johnny Depp.
