yeah

ive got to agree with Sick_As on this one I love the new TCM. Was it better than the original. No way. But I prefer to look at it like a comic dork. Let me explain. In the comic world there are these spinoff comics called "what ifs", like "punisher kills the entire marvel universe". That how i look at the new TCM. They took the same basic characters and threw in a different story. I liked how different they were. To me it showed that they respcted the OG version b/c they didnt try and re make it, simply take the scenario in a different direction.

Dawn of the Dead remake. Well first off ill say that i thought Dawn was the weakest of the trinity. Yeah its got some good social commentary on it. But really, and you have to agree on this, the zombies are fucking green. I just couldnt feel it. Like "Hey ive got an idea thats going to save on budgeting, lets get a bunch of extras and paint them up like a bunch of fucking martians."

And im not agreeing that it should be remade but ill give it a chance, though im pretty sure its going to fucking suck. really these days i only go to horror movies for the effects, sometimes i get suprised with a decent flick. also lets not forget the 1990 night of the living dead, IMO, the best zombie movie to date. But at the same time Romero did write it, and had savini direct, so i think it had some of the same tone that the others did, and the new DOTD doesnt have any backing from romero.

It's very hard for me to respect your opinion. How could you want remakes more than a slasher flick such as the THREE from the 90's? Come on, man, slasher flicks aren't the most original thing in the world, I'll admit. But I'd choose them over a remake anyday. Basically what you're saying is you want a remake over a completely different horror movie, and that's where it becomes hard to respect your opinion. But I do, so don't throw bricks at me or anything....

Didn't some Halloween, F13 and NoeS movies come out in the 90's, too?

it is what will sale and the fuckers in hollywood know this... I say bring back the old drive in classics and that is where true horror will be at... but there is not a big market for it, and as long as they put out some slasher/gore big budget films every other year then they think they are feeding the horror public.. But if there is horror fans on here that are like me then you probably own more 70`s-80`s horror, and you basically forget about the new horror, but you still check it our for mere curiousity... so to me it is not a big deal.. as long as I have my old horror then I am happy...

My favorite horror remakes:

The Thing
House on Haunted Hill
13 Ghosts
Evil Dead 2 (it's a remake)
Night of the Living Dead
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1972)
TCM 2003 (I never understood how Psycho and TCM were based on the same serial killer until this version)
The Fly
The Blob
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Village of the dammed

Most hated remakes:

Psycho
Lost in Space
The Mummy
TCM: The Next Generation
Cat People
The Haunting
King Kong

What is a remake anyway? Part 2, 3, 4, 5 those are remakes or just regurgitated versions of the original. Take Demons and Demons 2 for example - Demons 2 is the exact same story with the only difference being the Demon come out of a TV instead of a movie screen and the people are trapped in an apartment instead of a theater. It's really just a remake or rehash of the same story.

Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of unofficial remakes and rip-offs like:
ID4=War of the Worlds
Eight Legged Freaks = Any giant spider movie from the 50's
Alien = Creature
Night of the Living Dead = All zombie movies
Link = Monkey Shines
The Werewolf - The Howling

People have been stealing ideas and story lines from movies, books, comics, Games, history etc. What is original these days anyway (even in Asia - maybe if we lived there we might know where those "original" stories have been stolen from too - And Asian movies steal from other countries too - The Séance was taken from Séance on a Rainy Day - I guess people think the grass is always greener on the other side).

I have no problem with remakes as long as they are well done. If it's not good, then it's just another crappy movie. Some I like, while other I hate. I just take it one at a time and for what it is.

Just my .02

Like someone said, if they take our favorite characters but change the story up, and do it right, then it's all good with me. And the new TCM mos def was done right IMO. And how is "Scream" horrible? That may be the best mainstream horror movie we got in the nineties period. Not including the sequels, of course.

Scream is not a horror movie, it's satire. In that sense, it's very well done. It gets a bad rap because it spawned a lot of horrible movies.

I'm not a huge remake fan myself - see Gone in 60 Seconds and I LOVE Angelina Jolie. Most remakes turn out to be total and utter crap.

And Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favorite movies (who doesn't love a movie/book/story where 2 hookers fall in love?) and I'm a HUGE Indiana Jones fan, but Harrison Ford and Skeletor girl as the "new age" Holly and Paul.

Also, I have not seen the new TCM, so I don't have any opinions on that one. I hear it's supposed to be good, but I haven't found the courage yet to possibly taint my love for the original. The Psycho remake sucked ass IMHO, and I like Vince Vaughn.
