yep, you have to be very careful when defining the parameters for 'uptight'
everyone has their own personal comfort threshhold. now - do i think its wrong and people shouldnt do it ? no - not for me to say do what you like if it makes you happy and doesnt infringe upon anyone elses health. there's a lot of people doing 'extreme' things that i dont personally agree with.. but that doesnt mean i'll want to hang around with them while they're doing it. It definately creates a gap in the things we have in common. bottom line - it can be for someone else - but i'm not in the least bit interested in it .. i just think it's goofy . Wouldn't really persocute a person unless maybe they showed up for a job interview like that or something. If they were a guy, I might wonder why they'd bother with effort of all the endless shit women seem to...but that's about all. To me, a "transvestite" would be someone who makes their whole life about wearing nothing but the clothes and other accessories generally worn by the opposite sex, someone you'd not really see in their "true" form (no matter what they'd call their true form). As for how I feel about them, same as I feel about most gay folk "My world is different from theirs, we'll get along just fine as long as that's understood."

Hate it when they stick the fuzzy animals in my PRON!:p Yea...it kind of irks me sometimes because it limits what/when I can watch things and what I can watch with my 14yo daughter...I don't mind cursing, gore, cheese in m ovies she watches...she's a big horror fan...but I can't watch a ridiculous sex scene (in the woods, on the floor...etc...) with her...she's smarter than me and she knows whats going on in the real world...but if I want sex scenes, I'll get a sex movie.
Seriously though...I personally have no problem with what anyone does, as long as it doesn't effect/affect me or my family in a negative way. What I do have a problem with, is when groups who oppsoe things for no reason other than being on the bandwagon or being a part of the group(ex: Churches fighting alcohol sales, Gay bashing by dumb rednecks who probably haven't even seen a gay guy, etc..) that type of thing. If I found my friend doing that...I would say hey man, do you think you could change into something a bit more manly before we go out?

another point .. never had a problem finding girlfriends ...amazing i know given my dog's breakfast looks ... and they were all gorgeous ..
i've said many times i'm luckier than i've had a right to be .. but i can guarentee that none of them ... with the exeption of maybe one - would very much appreciate me showing up to the dance in a teddy and high heels. there are a lot of girls - i expect the majority - that would find a guy dressed like a girl to be quite a turn off .. a lot of women still like men to look and act like men (men - not assholes many men think they are supposed to act like) i know there are a lot of girls who like the waif boys with the long hair .. and thats cool - those guys need love too ... i think most of the girls i've known though - prefer a guy who spends less time preening in front of a mirror than themselves. Kinda like if YOU went for a job interview for a job that requires you to wear a suit, you wouldn't show up in jeans and a t-shirt, know what I mean? And they don't intend for it to be extreme or shocking...They just like it... Some of the guys have explained it to me this way (because, yes, I asked)...They feel that women are sexually powerful, and they have a lot of respect for them, so when they dress as women THEY feel sexually powerful, which arouses them, makes them feel more comfortable, and helps to sway their inhibitions...And some just feel that they are more sexually appealing as women, because they believe they look better that way, which makes them feel better about themselves...Not ALL of the guys I know feel that way, some have different reasons, and some have absolutely no idea WHY they like it...Just like I have no idea why I like some of the things I like....

I'm with most of you. Transvestite, transexual, transgender, gay, bi, straight, whatever. I think it's better for people to be open about what they like. Not necessarily in the walking down the street flaunting it sense (although it's never really bothered me) but you know, if you want to let your friends, including me if I'm one, know what your about, it's cool. Better that than holding it in for so long that you end up breaking and doing something really messed up from all the pressure exploding.
Drag queens love me for some reason; I used to get hit on by them all the time at the clubs. I was never offended; more flattered really. As long as when I say "Thank you for the compliment, but that's not my gig," and they except that, it's no problem what so ever. If they were persistent about it (they never have been, except for maybe a drunken sleeze or two, which is funny) it might bug me. I imagine it's the same way with ladies whom have a guy hitting on them that just won't quit no matter what they say.

My first career was in musical theater, breadway and such.
As such I'm much more familiar with drag queens than transvstites, but there is a certain similarity. It's a fantasy, an escape away from the gruff, masculine world into the softness and glamour of an idealized (and very male) idea of femininity. Having had several friends who do drag shows and such, I've been dolled up by them and paraded around in public - and it was hilarious. I'm not a transvestite, I'm not gay but I would consider myself open minded about most thing sexual (and Urge, public nudity doesn't bother me - but it bothers people like you, so I respect that and keep my clothes on - and my wife would love it if I dressed up for her) If you like it, fine, knock yourself out! What harm can come from it? now trans-gender operations...I do have a hang-up about that, primarily because it takes a greatr deal of self-hatred to go through such a violent and painful operation...but that's my hang-up.
