Check the classifieds...I just happened to be browsing this morning and there was a Gamecube + 2 Games + 2 Controllers for $60. Being that you live in a MUCH bigger city than I do, I bet you'd be able to find a similar deal.

well, i think you guys have sold me on a gamecube .. im glad i asked .. i have no idea about these things . .i've only played on a PC until i got the other old systems in garage sales, etc.

my kid is turned into a total addict though ... but now he's only allow to play them on the weekend for an hour if he had a good week at school.

i'm sure i can find a cheap game cube ... these kind of things pop up at cash converters all the time ..

he's only 5 ... too young to be so obsessed ..

he freaks out when playing too - if he's having trouble ..

it aint pretty.

when he can control it better it wont be a problem (and he has had a tough time in school - he's very 'active'..)

I have four kids and have had video games in the house since before they were born [anyone remember Intelevision] I never had a problem with compulsive playing........until OBLIVION....I had to throw my 14 year old off it just last night after almost three hours of playing.

Of course i threw him off so i could play Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter :D

But i know where urge is coming from.My 6 yr. old nephew is like that.He gets very agitated playing.

def the Gamecube if you wanna play burned games, and it comes with a nice variety of kids games also, plus you get more options in the Nintendo game line-up, plus some really really good titles...

For the sheer variety of games though, I always preferred the PS2...plus the fact that the games look a lot more amazing on it, better graphics, better sound et al...

XBox is ideal for online gaming...you and your friends can hook up your machines together and have a go at each other or 2 player missions, but the XBox suffers from limitations in the number of games it offers...

I have all 3 of em, and most of the time I m hooked into my XBox usually at nights...but PS2 and Gamecube are better suited for single-player gameplay, and its an easier option of the two...
