"Skull Island" - The King Kong prequel

Marshall is now attached to helm "Skull Island: Blood of the King," which is another way of saying "King Kong 2."

In 2004, a graphic novel by Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland was published entitled “Kong: King of Skull Island,” and the movie will be based off that. It tells a whole new story set 25 years after the big bad ape destroyed New York City.

Here's the Amazon synopsis:

In 1933, American showman Carl Denham returned from a mysterious, hidden island with a priceless treasure. A treasure not gold or jewels, but the island's barbaric god, a monstrous anthropoid called "Kong." The savage giant escaped and wreaked havoc among the man-made canyons of Manhattan, but within hours of the giant ape's death his body - and Carl Denham - disappeared.

All told, it looks like a fancy way to dance around the rights to King Kong by not actually featuring him in the movie, but living off that legacy or something.

We'll see how this develops for Marshall, who has lensed the pilot for the Michael Bay-produced pirate TV series "Black Sails" and recently signed up to helm the "Troll Hunter" remake.

This could be good. I haven't seen a bad movie from the director yet. But I haven't seen his most recent one.

Breaking news by Vulture.com from the ongoing Comic-Con:

At the end of today's Legendary Pictures panel at Comic-Con, producer Thomas Tull introduced a trailer for a brand-new mystery project ... that turned out to be a sequel of sorts to King Kong.

Not that any of us knew that as the trailer began: All we saw was a stormy, primeval-looking island, accompanied by some ominous narration. Then, as we pressed in on the island, we saw a giant monster roaring — and hey, is that King Kong?

Smash cut to the title: Skull Island, the place King Kong calls home.

The panel ended right after that with nary a lick of information, and the audience was left confused. There's no director attached to this project yet, although Legendary has dated it for November 4, 2016.

Tom Hiddleston to Star in Legendary's ‘Skull Island’ Film

After a monster of a surprise reveal at Comic-Con, Legendary has announced that its “Skull Island” will star Tom Hiddleston and be directed by “Kings of Summer” helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

The King Kong prequel already has an original draft of a script by Max Borenstein.

For Hiddleston, this is yet another major franchise, and the first he will anchor. He is the beloved evil Loki in the Marvel Universe, stealing the show in “The Avengers” and the “Thor” movies, and also has won praise for his work in “Only Lovers Left Alive” and “Midnight in Paris,” among other films. He will play Hank Williams in an upcoming biopic.

Even Peter Jackson failed to remake King Kong better than the original so i doubt any future visits to Skull island will improve on this subject personally.I hope i`m wrong though.

I honestly don't really even like the original. Hell, I hardly like any movies older than 1970. It might be because I'm like 20 years younger than everyone else :P
