Time to wrap up the Grand Finale.
By beating two of the toughest opponents of this entire tournament by a margin of... +3 votes over Forbidden Planet (1956)'s ROBBY THE ROBOT, and just +1 vote over Metropolis (1927)'s MARIA, THE WINNER OF THE ROBOTS/ANDROIDS/CYBORGS/A.I.s TOURNAMENT IS... The Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer, also known as H.A.L.-9000.  from Stanley Kubrick's immortal 1968 sci-fi cult classic...  and Peter Hyams's equally impressive 80s sequel...  A H-U-G-E thanks to everyone who voted and made this tournament a successful one. Special, deep-from-my-heart thanks go to those who popped in for even a minute and voted for the matches which were stuck for DAYS for decider votes.
