You're right about the finales being a mess. I thought both seasons really dropped the ball in that regard. Here's hoping this one doesn't.

I'm currently working my way through season 1, but I for one really enjoyed the season 2 finale. Though it's a crude reduction, for the sake of argument let's say that a TV series such as this is like a very long film. In this respect, many (not all) films feel the need to give us that final closure scene, which is how I found Season 2's ending. The penultimate episode gives us the big thrills, the finale ties up the loose ends. Whilst sometimes it's nice to leave things open/not draw it out, Ryan Murphy has addressed how it's necessary to treat TV characters differently due to the attachments we form with them.
In any case - the last episode was...strange. Not keen on the apparently easy solution to the witch hunter problem. Whilst I didn't want a big shoot out, this was a tad too simple. Perhaps it was to show LaLaurette and Fiona's descent into true evil, but quite frankly I hardly think that's already been well established! Delphine's return to sickness is a bit eh. I was enjoying her development, and this particularly undoes the power of the crying head scene. I must say, whilst I appreciate NE's argument about it being an interesting exploration of immortality, it HAS reduced the stakes. I mean, okay, the main characters - but now Queenie's back, Spalding keeps showing up and the fucking Axeman seems to be just living a normal life off on the music scene. Similar to how I feel with season 1 at the moment and the ghost aspect - if almost everyone (Addy WAS a sad and powerful moment) can come back it's tough to fear too much for them. I mean, no, you might not want your favourite character to become a ghost, but let's face it - as an audience member, we MAINLY care about an old favourite dying because it now means their absence. If they're still present, we're still placated with continual exposure to their character. Season TWO had stakes.

Yah, this season is really running hot and cold. The two previous episodes I really enjoyed. This one was just, as you say- strange.

The one thing I got confused about this series was.... why did they end up drowning Nan? Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

Now I see why everyone has been saying the last episode was strange - it definitely was strange! And the camera angles were making me dizzy! LOL

Somehow once again like the other seasons I'm losing interest in this show. And I thought I would own this season too. I guess only a few episodes are left. But too much stuff happens just to happen.

I enjoyed this week's episode more than the previous one. I'm looking forward to the finale'. IMO at this point I think they'll pull off some surprising twist. I'm not convinced Chloe is the next supreme. Anything could happen. Lange could get resurrected and take back control. Bates could execute a power play and take over. So could Basset. Or nobody becomes supreme. Or they all rule as a council. Anything.
Even the stylish red haired theremin player could wind up supreme. Whatever happens it's bound to piss off some people and satisfy others. Some will say they dropped the ball and the season was a mess. Some will love it. |

Not liking this season. Too many inconsistencies, characters coming back from the dead and endless back stabbing. For a show that show that should be showcasing female empowerment, it sure is making all the girls come across as power hungry untrustworthy bitches.
This season has been more about Jessica Lange than any of the others and I'm really getting tired of her character. Honestly its like watching The Jessica Lange show. Her death last episode was way too anticlimactic and since Ryan Murphy has such a hard on for her, there's no way she's not coming back. My prediction is Fiona cones back and kills all the girls like in Cordelias vision and she wins. Boring. Either that or Nan will come back as the next supreme. Just my opinion.
