Bad Grandpa
![]() This may be too lowbrow for a lot of people but I thought it was funny as hell. Some great scenes with some priceless reactions from the people they pulled the gags on. A lot better than I was expecting to be honest. |

Ninja II:Shadow of a Tear - Scott Adkins busts out some of his best twirly whirly moves as he seeks vengeance following the murder of his pregnant wife. This was so reminiscent of the martial arts VHS movies I used to rent in the 80's I was expecting Michael Dudikoff or Lauren Avedon to pop up at some point, and that's a positive as I really like some of those films. Now if someone could go ahead and remake King of the Kickboxers starring Scott Adkins that would be great. 7/10

Neat little Irish horror/comedy on Netflix right now. Not a completely original idea, but a lot of fun to watch... and Ruth Bradley is hot as love. |

I watched the J-horror film Pulse (2001) yesterday, and this morning I caught Sightseers streaming on Netflix. I didn't like Pulse, but I really enjoyed Sightseers.
Also, I saw the first Thor movie this weekend. Admittedly, I only watched it because I'm a huge Loki/Tom Hiddleston fan, but I was somewhat disappointed in the movie. And I really, really need to see the new Hobbit movie sometime this week. I feel like it would be some kind of sin in nerdom if I don't see this film in the theaters.

I had planned on it, but will probably end up streaming it, but understand what you mean. It's been eons since reading it, but I loved the book. I was one of the few that read it for pleasure... when way too many other people I knew read it because it was a class assignment.

Lone Survivor
based on actual events of Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan riveting would best describe this one. If you like Black Hawk Down then this would be your cup of tea....or coffee if you don't like tea |

Just got through watching Upstream Color.... One of the best movies I have seen in a while. Beautifully shot and scored story free of the pointless exposition that spoils so many cookie cutter movies around today. Everything is stripped down to basic themes and ideas which gives the audience a chance to engage with the content. There are scenes that play out and feel like scenes from Koyaanisqatsi and certainly the score is influenced by Philip Glass. I feel like the movie attempts to engage the audience on both a conscious and subconscious level and to a certain extent it achieves that. Everything feels relevant, but its hard to process it all and put it all together, but that's part of the experience of movies like this. Things don't really get wrapped up at the end, which will no doubt frustrate viewers, but for anyone who wants something a little different its well worth a watch. Personally I hope we see more movies like this, rather than the seemingly endless stream of movies containing formulaic and mundane exposition that attempts to walk the audience through every aspect of the story.
