Want me to add it? These films (Clean, Shaven as well) are listed under crime/drama in IMDB. Are they horror films in the true sense of the word or bordering on horror? One of the reasons why I didn't add I Stand Alone to the Master List.

Not sure its worth adding to the master list, I just made the post to remind people who had forgotten about the film, but would've added it. |

Unless Im just missing it, I dont think you have Gamera (Guardian Of The Universe)1996, but there's Gamera 2 and 3 there. I didn't even know they exist till I saw the list, but from what Im reading they're some of the best giant monster movies ever done, especially 2. I got to check them out.

There are already a bunch of movies in the master list that aren't straight horror: Reindeer Games, Kiss the Girls (crime drama), Jurassic Park (action/adventure), Cannibal the Musical (comedy). Even some of the best from the decade are a step removed from horror -- Se7en, Army of Darkness, The Frighteners -- but I'll still rank them because they're so good, and close enough. I've gotta have at least one actual scary movie on my list though, so I picked Clean, Shaven as the borderline horror to add. Man Bites Dog and I Stand Alone are good candidates too.

Also, if we're going by IMDB ratings, one that's probably a lock to make the final 20, Silence of the Lambs, is listed as "crime, drama, thriller." Same with Se7en, and actually quite a few on the list.
So, I guess what I'm asking is (since the first time I just heard crickets :) )... can we add Clean, Shaven, because it's probably in my top 10 for the decade? From a psychological horror and body horror standpoint, it's really not a stretch at all. Plus the whole serial killer thing. Also, if I could just comment at a higher level... I know you guys had that thread a while back on what might help increase activity on these forums... I know I'm still pretty new here, but I will say that the amount of resistance on this thread sniffs a bit of elitism. It doesn't seem like it should be that big a deal to add a film to the list. Half the movies on the list are crap, and the ones being suggested (past decades too) are ones that actual horror fans believe actually deserve a vote. If no one else agrees, it won't get votes -- Big deal. I don't know, it just seems close minded, and its not that surprising that people don't stick around. In the end, it doesn't matter much to me what's on the list, it just makes it less fun to participate. |

Overreacting much, are we?
Check the Master List, Giganticface. The first time you requested the film to be added, I added it without a moment's hesitation and without any questions asked. I was merely asking if these films were straight up horror or bordering on it. Guess we have to draw a line somewhere. Tomorrow when the sticky is up, someone else will come in and comment that these films aren't horror and what are they doing in there? Guess my question was legit? Quote:
And the last 2 lines of your reply are pretty much uncalled for. Maybe you should read the thread from the beginning as well. Or am I to assume that you are an older banned member who's returned under another name to stir trouble yet again? This project was dead and buried a long, long time ago. I revived it in the hope that we might see a bit more traffic and have some old members returning, who might be lurking in the shadows. So far everything I have done in the thread has been democratic, including finalising the final 20 for an era - unlike the previous stickied 100s where the involvement of all members was restricted to sending in their top 10/15/20 only. The final selection was done by a panel of judges/jury who were either selected by any/all members, or secretly selected amongst themselves. Guess I should be burned at the stake for resurrecting this project and getting all members involved all through the selection process, shouldn't I? And one final point to re-iterate that "amount of resistance" thing you cropped up - have you seen a single instance where I have interjected or put in my opinions/choices throughout this thread? I am staying impartial, and not even submitting my top 20 OR my choices when the final selections are being done. The final 20 selections are being done according to the majority of support/backing which YOU people go for. For your information, the total number of lists I post for an era is of members ONLY. None are from me, and you won't see my opinions/choices overrule everyone else's. If this is not being completely fair, then I am happy to hand over everything related to this project to you. Feel free to take over. I will be very glad to pass this on. |

I suppose my main point is that each time I've suggested a film, you're response was never, "Added to the list." It was either something like "you guys can debate it" or, in the latest case, dead silence. (I didn't realize you added Clean, Shaven. A quick response would have cleared that up.) And just to clarify... No, I'm not an ex-banned member, and yes I've read the entire thread, although IMO the policy of "Don't speak unless you've read all 38 pages" seems a bit draconian. My feedback was supposed to be constructive, and I truly am sorry if it didn't come across that way. |

Internet communication is often tricky. This is a worthy project and if we all stick through it, it'll be a great addition to the site.
You're doing a great job V! |

Other than those, there are no other recommendations given by you from outside the Master Lists in the 22 other posts you have posted in this thread, other than Clean, Shaven for the 90s, which was included without question. ------------------------------- Thanks to neverending and fortunato for submitting their entries. |

No big deal; water under the bridge. Pretend I never said anything. Let's get back to taking horror, and how the 90s is sucky compared to past decades. :) |
