So I haven't read the series, but the movie comes across as America against the comies, they have all the power, they solve the worlds problems, etc... It just killed the movie for me as it just seems to be promoting America in situations of war. That country really needs to get with the program, trying to flex your muscles through cinema is, well, do I need to say it.

I think you're tying too hard to read something that isn't there.
The film depicts an America torn apart by greed and indifference, and it even goes so far as to mimic American authority figures. WHere were you getting the idea that the US is trying to flex muscle through (this) cinema?

What about him? America used him as a weapon and he saved their asses for awhile, then exiled himself in space to get away from them.

I mean, I haven't seen the film since it was in theaters, but I remember it being distinctly un-American, even to the point where real people of authority were being mimicked and our ways of war and politics were being satirized.

I don't know about pro/anti Americanism, but I thought the whole thing was pretty much anti-war, and anti govt.

Just wated "the fugitive" (93).
I remember seeing this at the movies and about 3 times since.
Always entertaining, one of my favourite Ford movies.
Never that much cared for the sequel as I recall, but then it's been years also.
Also never saw the original series so I don't know how it rates by comparison, though I'd like to check out a boxset if ever there's one available.

I felt it was saying you can't fuck with us, we have the most power, aka Mr Manhattan. Then saying they solve the worlds problems by setting of a bom... Yes, war is great, blow things up and then we have peace... :confused:

I think ultimately it was poking a great deal of fun at America, mimicking that mode of thought. I mean, the whole ending of the film was pretty silly and a bit of a farce, I think, so the story is laughing at the extremities we might pull ourselves into.

Hush (2009)



A young couple on a motorway journey are drawn into a game of cat and mouse with a truck driver following a near accident.

Pretty tightly-plotted, a low-budget - cat-and-mouse thriller with lots & lots of twists & turns and some of which able to provide nice tense set-pieces also. Though the plot was bit unoriginal up to a point but still it has some fine elements that will keep you guessing 'what happens next?'.
As his debut feature film, writer/director Mark Tonderaia did a decent effort that managed to be a quite neat and time passing entertaining treat overall.
