Yeh I get ya it wasn't a dig at you or anything. 80s Metallica rules plain and simple. Definitely not overrated it was totally pioneering especially the era with Burton and Mustaine.

Nah I think its a valid word although it does get used way to much. A lot of derivative stuff gets way to much attention while the better band/film that it knocked off goes unnoticed.

Hmmm I'll start slaughtering scared cows in this thread sometimes soon. A lot of bands that I feel this way about I'm just sick to death of because they get entirely to much airtime and I thrashed 'em to death growing up. I'm in this boat with Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Bowie, Dylan, Maiden and a few other "classics". Zeppelin really represent the bloated pig rockstar sthick that I fucking hate and have become a figure point for my hatred of the music industry... but I love Kiss go figure huh?

But then there's just the bands I just hate because they don't deserve the critical praise that gets lumped on them because there's bands with a better message not the diluted user friendly safe alternative to the real deal... shit like Anti-Flag, Green Day (if that shit's punk I fucking quit).

I don't really count pop music as "music" it's pretty disposable and only really has the money making factor in mind. The 80s really turned pop music into something awful while the 60s and 70s had some truly epic tunes.

I gotta disagree about Bowie and Pink Floyd (slightly). I don't think Bowie is very overplayed, at least not around here (or my home). It seems like he's just another 'influence'. Pink Floyd doesn't seem to get ANY play in the Atl area, with the exception of Another Brick Part.2 of course.
