"Curse Of The Undead" (1959)
- Micheal Pate

Plot Synopsis: IMDB

The cinema's first vampire Western! Young women in a small Western town are dying one by one of an unknown malady involving massive blood loss. The Carter family's ranch is being terrorized by ruthless land baron Buffer. And a mysterious black-clad gunfighter with an aversion to sunlight has just arrived in town

Phantom's Review: I've always been a fan of both westerns and horror movies, (especially the classic black and white movies)and on those rare occasions that someone tries to combine the two always interests me.
While this is basically a standard "B" movie. It has some very nice performances from the actors and it maintains, both, a great horror atmosphere (with some cool spooky music)and some classic western action.
If you don't take it to seriously, this is a fun movie.

"Trooper Hook" (1957)
- Joel McCrea. Barbra Stanwyck

Plot Synopsis: IMDB
After a band of Indians kill a group of soldiers, Sergeant Hook captures them and their leader Nanches. Among the prisoners is Nanches' son and the boy's white mother captured by them nine years earlier. Hook's assignment is to escort the mother and son to the woman's husband. Traveling by stagecoach they learn that Nanches has escaped and it's not long before he and his warriors show up intent on reclaiming the boy.

Phantom's Review: Well acted, but standard western adventure. Plenty of action and some good performances, but overall, nothing memorable.

Santee" (1973)
-Glen Ford

Plot Synopsis: IMDB
Jody Deakes joins up with his father after many years, only to discover that his dad is part of an outlaw gang on the run from a relentless bounty hunter named Santee. Jody is orphaned soon after Santee catches up to the gang, and follows Santee in hopes of taking vengeance for his father's death. Instead, however, Jody discovers that Santee is a good and loving man, tormented by the death of his young son at the hands of another outlaw gang. Santee and his wife take Jody in and a father-son relationship begins to grow. Then the gang that killed Santee's son shows up.

Phantom's Review: Glen Ford was one of the best western actors, but "Santee" was not one of his better pictures. Some decent action, but overall the film is kind of dull.

"Border Patrol" (1943)
- William Boyd

"Hopalong" Cassidy and his pals Johnny and "California", working as Texas Rangers, set out to find how twenty five Mexicans have disappeared after being hired by the "Silver Bullet" mines. They ride into town and find the mine owner is one man government. He arrests them on trumped up charges and theyre tried before a kangaroo court.

Phantom's Review: What can I say, It's "Hopalong" Cassidy ! Plot is simple, action is great and has some good doses of humor. A great Saturday Morning Matinee movie.

"The Man From Del Rio" (1956)
- Anthony Quinn, Katy Jurado

Dave Robles, a Mexican gunfighter passing through the town of Mesa out draws and kills a famous outlaw.
He's then invited by a former gunfighter turned saloon owner named Barrister to join a gang he's forming and take over the town.
Instead Robles takes the job as Sheriff and becomes Barrister's enemy.

Phantom's review: A very well acted little movie. Light on action, but has a good story and is an interesting character study. Watch for legendary character actor Whit Bissell as the town drunk. He steals every scene he's in.
