The Departed (2006) - 9/10.

One of my favourite Scorsese flicks.

Ken Park

I remember this movie was banned in Australia just before it was due to be released, but I couldn't remember why. I guess it was just all the penises..

It's a gritty and bleak film though, it leaves an impact though the ending was a bit dissapointing.

7/10

Watched "Last House On The Left" last night. Its been about thirty years since I've seen it. Was a bit disappointed. While this had some truly horrific scenes the dopey comedy bits almost ruined the movie. Lets hope the remake leaves them out.

Pretty underwhelmed. Not that I was necessarily expecting anything great, but it just seemed to be a distillation of the first three films all in one package, ready for mass consumption. I didn't really see anything special. Just another remake.

Midnight Cowboy (1969) - 10/10.

One of my favourite films. Dustin Hoffman is great in this.

Oh Larry Clark... you'd think with all that teen sex and violence he's obsessed with he'd have something interesting to say in his films... yet he doesn't. If I recall correctly the scene that it was banned for was the "Door handle" scene.

East of Eden

Wonderful performances, and a great script...really liked this one. Plus it's the first full movie I've seen with James Dean - wow, what a talent. Shame he only did 3 movies, could have gone on to real greatness.

Rebel Without a Cause

...and to back up my last point: what a stunning performance this one is. First time that I've properly watched this one, and what a powerful and iconic film it is. Could easily become a favourite of mine.

Vincent Price: The Sinister Image

Very interesting interview. Price always seems like such a sweet and intelligent man...he has always been one of my idols. This doesn't really say anything that I didn't already know, but it's always fascinating to listen to someone you admire speak about their life.

This DVD has some great features on it as well: I especially enjoyed the 2 television specials. The Weird, Wild World of Dr. Goldfoot and Half Hour to Kill: Freedom to Get Lost - both were highly entertaining. I haven't gotten to the radio show included (Three Skeleton Key) or the audio interview, but you can bet that I will.

An essential buy for any Price fan :)

I noticed the ads on just about every horror site there is on the Net, and I thought it was getting a little too overhyped.

But, it sounds like a nice dose of cheesy fun. Thanks for the heads up, bud.
