Anyone Following Canadian Politics Currently?

Sure, you Amercan guys might have had the more exciting election - but our aftermath is far more interesting.

Big ol' mess...and I really have no idea how I want it to turn out. On one hand, I'm not fond of Harper and his Conservatives in the slightest - but, on the other, this whole coalition government thing just doesn't bode well.

Plus, even though I very rarely agree with him, at least Harper seems to know what he's talking about most of the time. I far prefer the Liberals, but Dion is digging his own grave...

If you're not brushed up on your Canadian politics, I'd suggest reading up on the foolishness going on. It's really intriguing.

I listen to CBC Radio Two all day at work and hear quite a bit of Canadian political stuff but don't pretend to understand it. Parliament, MVPs, governor generals (or governors general?). Sounds strange to my ears. And with Harper putting an end to the current government to prevent some kind of no confidence vote it's hard to tell if a revolution is going on or just legal political business as usual. Definitely sounds dirty, almost as dirty as ours down here.

I am intrigued and I've been following this one for a while now. It's freaking me out. I thought the whole idea of elections was to have a peaceful transfer of power. Dion may think he has a popular mandate, but his actions stink of extremism and I hope it doesn't destabalize the entire govornment...

And Harper's response only makes him look like the bad guy who will squash any voice of dissent with an executive order.

But that's just a stupid American's take on it.
