Repo: The Genetic Opera

After Spike's Scream Awards 2007 last night, I felt like the entire show was one huge advertisement and was pretty disappointed. The one thing I did get pretty excited for was Repo: The Genetic Opera.

The movie is based on the stage play by Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich. The film takes place in the future after a world wide epidemic of organ failure takes place. A company called Gene Co comes up with a plan to transplant organs to thoe who can afford it.... and if you can't afford your payments the result is repossesion by any means necessary.

The film will star Anthony Head of Buffy fame as the Repo-Man, everyone's favourite Bill Mosely as Luigi Largo and Paris Hilton as Amber Sweet. (Don't worry about her acting talent, she suits her character perfectly.)

Considering my two favourite movie genres are Horror and Musicals, I am eagerly awaiting this feature film. Set to be released April 25, 2008.

But still, she's in it.

But she's still there...

Ok, here's how I feel about her. As most of you folks know, I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan and will watch anything including Jason Mewes, Jason Lee, Ben Affleck, or any other Smith regulars. Except for "Bottom's Up" because of Paris Hilton, even though Jason Mewes is in it.

That's how much I hate her.

I'm actually really looking forward to this, its looks great; but watching Paris Hilton on stage with Bill Moseley and Anthony Head, two actors I have lots of respect for, almost made my head explode. Didn't think THAT would ever happen....;) But I simply refuse to let her ruin this for me, dammit.

I totally agree. When Bill had his arm around her I laughed out loud. Tony has the most amazing voice though, so seeing him will outweigh Paris' acting skills... or lack there of.

I'm so pumped though. I had a dream about TCM 2 last night and when I woke up my thought process was "TCM2, Bill Mosely, REPO!" :D

No, no. I don't blame you. I did the same thing with Bottom's Up. My love of musicals is just much too strong for my own good.

I'm just scared that this movie, that I deem very deserving of praise from what little I've seen and heard, will bomb because of the Paris stigma. However, she's good marketing. People want to hear about her, whether it's good or bad so when she publicly screws up the media will go on about "paris Hilton, star of the upcoming musical Repo! The Genetic Opera! blah blah blah" and a different audience learns about it.

I saw the preview on The Scream Awards. Looks very "Rocky Horror"
It might be worth a DVD rental

I hate Paris also but she actually didn't seem bad during the trailer singing and shit. If Bill Mossely says she is great then I believe him.

I think Paris has the perfect voice for her character, a little snarky and her spoken vocals are good too. I've seriously been doing so much research on this, it's a little sad.
