Question 'bout Laundry...
Ladies might be better to take this one hm? Not that guys don't wash, hell, I do...but anyways...
Work shirts, and t-shirts...(mainly cotton t's, I find)...after a hot day yknow, sometimes you can sweat up a shirt a little by the end of the day. Not like so you stink, just so you're not yknow "outta the shower" kinda fresh...? Anyways, with some of the shirts, I find that two things happen when I wash them. 1: Deodorant stains them slightly. 2: Some of them kind've "trap" sweat...whilst ironing I notice there's a slight residual smell..I don't know, but MAYBE it's related to the deodorant residue. Anyways, I've tried pre-soaking the shirts in colousafe bleach, and washing in clothes detergent and fabric softener...just doesn't seem to fix the problem with certain shirts... So, any "fixes" for this issue? Here's hoping I don't have to dryclean my shit every time... Thanks. -B

Burn it!
Sorry, just seemed like the perfect time for that. Try leaving them out in the sun for awhile, then handwashing, then throw them in the machine. May work, may not. Worth a shot, but when you put something outside in the sun, it tends to remove the odor.

As a house-husband, I can tell you that a little detergent poured into the armpit and rubbed in prior to washing helps, but it is the aluminum based antiperspirants that really stain the pits. I have switched to a deodorant that has no antiperspirant and my shirts are less stained.

also the aluminum will cause Alzheimer's and i believe it is on the breast cancer do not use list

Putting clothes in the dryer also wears out your clothes faster, makes them look faded, and shrinks them. Putting clothes in the dryer will also set in any stains because of the heat. If you want to preserve your clothes or don't want to set any stains, I would air dry your clothes on a drying rack or clothesline. If there is one thing that you don't put in the dryer though, which is jeans. The dryer destroys and shrinks them big time. And if you ever get married, the dryer is also death to bras. Lastly, when you stuff the washing machine, your clothes don't have enough room to move around and will not get as clean. Filling your washer to only 3/4 should help with this and also putting it on a higher or "heavier" setting. Hope this helps. :) If you are still having issues, I would try washing them twice before having them dry cleaned, which is expensive and a pain in the ass.

Interlude - Tip No. 1
As we are on the topic of laundry - I do have a tip for anyone who is presented with the problem of certain stains on clothing.
If you ever get curry sauce on your clothes - if you wash the item and hang it outside, natural sunshine will fade it! I dont know if it works for all *sauce* stains, but turmeric and other spices will fade in sunshine :D

I used this topic as a conversation piece lastnight cos i was bored and my aunt
said an olden days remedy cos then they never had such things as nappysan or any of them other stuff ..they used the acid of the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Very interesting and you must admit ..the clothes you see on the Waltons and House on the Parairie were mighty clean
