I never understood where the idea came from to cast Cage for Superman.

He's a HUGE comic book geek - like crazy weird huge geek. He took his last name from Powerman and named his son Kal-El.

He pestered the studio heads at Warner Brothers constantly about the movie, saying how much he wanted to play the part. He's an Oscar winner, pursuing a passion project - the suits thought it seemed like a good idea, but no director would make the movie with Cage as Supes... but it would be really weird, wouldn't it?

I'd go see it just for the curiosity of it all.

I remember hearing that Cage ditched Lisa Marie Presley because she torched his comic book collection.

And Ghost Rider looks like it will suck about as much as Daredevil or The Punisher did. (The Thomas Jane Punisher, not the Dolph Lundgren one, which I actually liked more.)

Well this movie was o.k. I think that Daredevil was better. I felt that some of teh CGI was obvious, like the close-ups of the skull, it had an animated smoothness that I thought was very apparent. The movie moved wayyyy too fast. I felt like they were in a hurry to get to GR. I think Blaze took control of his power too easily and too quickly. I think that there should have been more character development in the beginning with Blaze and his father and even Roxann's father.
The Elementals were defeated way too easily and qucikly.
I was upset that Black Heart did not go all-out Black Heart, plus his appearence was weird and out of nowhere. I thought that Cage and Mendez were fine the story and the flow just wasn't all that great. I don't think that it was as bad as X3.

Agreed X3....bottom of the barrel.
Not as good as I'd hoped...but def. not one I was pissed about paying for.

Kind of like the idea of Stallone as Batman...before somehow...someway...Michael Keeton was cast....now that's just a weird deal all around.

Much to my surprise, this was a pretty good movie. I had very low expectations. but I ended up enjoying this film quite a bit. Even with Nic Cage channeling the spirit of Elvis. Good FX and a fun story. Sam Elliot was terrific as "The Caretaker" and Eva Mendes is one smokin' hot woman. A good movie all around.
