they look like book covers - are you sure they are movie posters ?

They are books/short stories made into horror films.

Actually they could be from the posters or from the DVD/VHS Covers as well.

Does anyone recognise these pictures from a horror movie poster or movie box?

They are are each novels that were turned into films, but the pictures are taken from the film posters/or movie box.

Damn, that one's so familiar, it's driving me insane...I actually own a book with that cover, but I have literally thousands of books...Someone PLEASE answer this before I start digging through all these books...

you'll probably go through dozens of books with almost identical covers before finding the right one.
