I am a Bassist and I was wondering if someone could recommend some good Bass effects pedals or processors, I've tried several and just can't seem to find anything I like.

Im a bass player too and have been for about 4 yrs. Shopping for bass effects is much harder than shopping for guitar effects. what i suggest is to go to samash.com or musiciansfriend.com and look at thier bass effects. Both of those sites have reviews from people that have bought the product. I use just a DigiTech Simulator, not really an effects pedal, but it adds a greatfullness and an awesome strong sound to your bass. I wouldn't ever waste your money on an effects board that cost around 600 dollars w/ like a million effects on one thing, those always get frequencys messed up and end up sounding really crappy.
What kind of bass/basses do you have by the way?

I play an American made 5 string Fender deluxe jazz bass with active electronics through a 100 watt Fender Bassman, I've had the Bass for 8 years and really like it, I think I'd like to get a "Guild Starfire" or a "Richenbacher 4003" eventually.

the bass players you've mentioned are pretty straight forward. fender bass and usually an ampeg 8x10 cabinet for recording. the 10 inch speakers is what gives you that nice punch and attack on the notes while still giving you plenty of bottom. if you want to punch it up a bit just get a compressor and flange pedal but nothing more. keep it simple and the bass will really shine through. if you over do it, the bass tends to get a little muddy and then you really can't tell what's being played it all becomes noise. you want to keep it simple and sharp.
