what is a GOOOOD movie

this is a public service, open to both female and male.

PICTURE THIS - a couple are sitting on the sofa, the light is dimm, maybe the alcohol has flown a bit, there is a tension in the air known to us all, the tension of luuve! The light of the tv illuminates the faces of what could be the latest romeo and juliet except, oh no! They're watching Dirty Dancing!

What is the best horror movie to put on to scare the lady and get some comfort snuggling in.

Lads - whats worked for you
Ladies - what do you wanna watch when that time happens

Hope this does not offend anyone

LOL!!!

Well, speaking from a womans point of view.

Most women cant handle a lot of gore (Im one of the exceptions as should be most of the women that are on this site) so if you dont want her to get sick I would say something tastefully scary would work. I would go with Bram Strokers Dracula, in my opinion its a great love story with a little scare to it :)

Interview With a Vampire could work well. But my fiance HATES horror though and is so pissed about my getting her to watch Land of the Dead with me that when I brought up Dead and Breakfast the other night as a movie choice she almost killed me lol. A couple other girls I dated both liked the Halloween and Friday the 13th movies.

Something with a lot of jump scenes, like Halloween, works, 'cause while the tension is building, they usually "can't watch", and bury themselves in your arms.

Of course I'm speaking with exception to the horror.com ladies.

I know House of 1000 Corpses works for me...
Anyone seen The Devil's Rejects?
Of course, that fine film has not yet become available on dvd, so it isn't eligible for this list...

Hmmm, a movie that's not too to make the average girl vomit.... :D and grab hold and snuggle. ;) Hmmmm....
How about John Carpenter's remake of "The Thing"? It's not vomit-inducing gory, and it has a lot of violent tension and distrust amongst the co-workers as they don't know who's human and who's alien. And the first time I saw the "blood test scene", I was so tense, it's was awesome. :)

A Nightmare on Elm Street
Halloween & Halloween 2
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

Those are my primary recommendations.

Also, girls tend to like the ghost story stuff so even thought the movies suck, you might be okay going with something like The Ring or The Grudge too. (It might actually work to your advantage if you select a movie that you aren't actually interested in. Then you can focus your attention on... 'protecting' her.)

Also, I'm not sure what age group you guys are in, but I know the younger crowd (High school and arly college aged) kids are enjoying all the remakes that are getting spewed down the pipeline (Although half of them don't even realize they are watching a remake.) I'm talking about stuff like House of Wax, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, etc...

Anyways, that's all I got for ya.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "The Ring" sucked. It was a tad slow at times, but it was decent. "The Grudge" was okay, but could've been so much better. As far as the remakes go, I did like TCM, but the only thing that threw me off is why did they make Leatherface all deformed? He wasn't deformed, he just killed people and wore their faces over his own. A decent remake but so much of that movie could've been so much better had they stuck closer to the original story.
