Screw it, Ill post the answer.
It's The Reaper, a really low budget flick with Chris Sarandon. I got it really cheap in a bargain bin...it's dumb and predictable, plus has a few too many plot twists at the end, but Id say worth seeing once. Somebody else can do the next one. IMDb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0203830/

It shouldnt be that hard...I guess Ill give you a hint. It's an unautohrised adaption of a Lovecraft story, however the name is completly different.
