. a ponder to ponder .
...horror flicks, when i was a younger kid they sent me into my bedroom before the movie was finished, then a devolped a love for them...now, an addiction. and the 80s and 70s are the best to produce these flicks...now i just laugh and enjoy all the effects and gore, its like we are now numb to this...but i sometimes wonder...maybe when we die its like we create our own personal hell...for eternity. seeing someones life end and guts pure in movies is great...funny and sick...going threw that in reality would have to be a horrible thing, u couldnt even comprehend being tortured. maybe thats what hell is like...or just murder in general. i mean of course this isnt going to make me stop loving horror flicks, or make me fly to a church...its just something...do horror movies catch up to u in the end? haha...maybe that IS the ultimate horror flick of all!

I don't think horror movies affect you, but a few years ago I had cancer and had a bone marrow transplant and lost a lot of weight and was reeeal sick and only had about a 50/50 chance of pulling through (back to normal now) and I couldn't watch gory movies until I got better because they were just too much to handle. Especially zombie stuff. That was really weird because I LOVE zombie movies and didn't think anything could make me stop watching them. So instead I watched a whole lot of spaghetti Westerns and 50's horror schlock and now have a greater appreciation for William Castle.

good to hear your better now dr. but what i want to say is this a good question its like if you kill someone in real life your evil and going even if you regret it every day of your life but here we are just sitting watching personafterperson get mauled and we laugh is going to catch up with us... will the boy wonder get his goose cooked.. find out on the next action pact episode of batman.

horror movies might affect ur mind later on, but IMO they definitely would not make u evil or doomed to hell.
when ur 70 or whatever u might have worse nightmares bcoz of watching horror movies, but i think its worth it for the enjoyment now but i dont think it will catch up to us, i mean watching horror movies where people pretend to get killed isnt evil, its just fun, the actors get paid for it. if u say watching horror movies automatically makes u evil, then u would have to say that going to church wateva makes u good automatically. but there are some people who go to church who commit cruel crimes on other people. wouldnt they get punished for these crimes, even if they go to church?

...good responses...im not saying thaT horror movies make u evil...although years ago i always believed that media, games and movies had nothing to do if a person committed violence or not...micheal moore changed me on that. im just saying, that all that gore has to play on your mind at one time or another. or yea...if thats the case, its not going to stop me from watching horror flicks...or wanting to be apart of that. i just think a horror movie impacts u in ways u may not realize, or atleast it gives u an extra edge then n e over movie flick.

For all the horror movies we've watched, you'd believe that in the end we'd have the knowledge to survive. We'd know not to run upstairs and go investigate that weird nosie after our three best friends were murdered by a knife wielding maniac. Shoudl some horror movie become reality, we'd be the geniuses to save the planet!
As for the effect of horror movies, I think fear's important. When I was younger, horror movies terrified me beyond recognition, but I still watched them. I loved being scared. That sort of fear is one of the greatest things I miss from childhood. But that fear has always made me more cautious, too. I always check under the bed before turning in, make sure the closest is empty and pray that if Micheal Myers is alive and kickin', I'm not related to the Myers' family in some way. Horror movies prepare us for the horrors of real life.
