exactly what I think, whatever they did have it done to them. You shoot somebody and they bleed to death in God knows what kind of pain you don't get a needle put into your arm and put to sleep, you get shoot and left to bleed to death simple as that.

The whole "cruel and unusual" punishment thing doesn't make sense to me...

I mean, its usually a cruel and unusual crime when it's murder.

that phrase makes no sense to me when you're talking about putting a criminal to death, rape,murder,pedophilia ect. these crimes amoung others are cruel and to damn usual. If you do something to someone it should be done to you.

I believe that if the States retributive action was more severe and widespread for lesser crimes it might, (I emphasize "might") have more of an effect. Someone mentioned atrocities committed in Iraq. From what has been learned, most of these acts/torture were done as a means to ascertain information/intelligence, not necessarily on persons who had committed a crime. I do believe that some other countries actions or ways of dealing with crime are effective. Caning, cutting off the hand of a thief, castration of a sex crime offender, (Done voluntarily in some States already) etc. Obvisouly none of these methods is perfect, but the system we have in place now is not, and does not work!
